Domes of Sha Tri-Pack - River Software/Page 6 RRP œ9.95 (Hammer Of Grimmold/Domes Of Sha/Mutant) Hammer of Grimmold, like it's companions - and the one adventure on this disk I played through - is a text-only adventure created on STAC - the ST adventure creator from Incentive. This is author Jack Lockerby's first transition from his previous 8-bit exploits and if all goes well, we can expect quite a few more value-for-money adventures of equal standard. All these adventures are presented by a crisp and clear text and the response times are virtually instant. To give an idea of the scenarios on this disk, I will briefly describe the storylines. HAMMER OF GRIMMOLD - The story goes that Grimmold, the mightiest of the Dwarf Kings, is deeply troubled. His fabled hammer - a symbol of health and fertlity - has been stolen by the evil magician, VALK. In the wake of this event, great misery has spread throughout the land of the dwarves. The Dwarf King, in his desperation, has turned to you for assistance. He charges you to recover the Hammer and return it to it's rightful owners. You must possess the courage to take on this task, outwit the Hooded Men, deceive the Gigantic Orc and finally overcome Valk himself....all this and more! Watch out for subtle clues, that are written, scrawled and carved onto various surfaces throughout this and the other two adventres. MUTANT - Twenty years ago on one of our South Sea Islands, the bomb was tested. This small island has since returned to the lush paradise it once was and small villages have sprung up around the coast. However, all is not well! Something has appeared in the mountains. No-one has seen it and survived, but many have heard it's hideous cry. You are Mankind's last hope of tracking down and destroying this creature before it's too late!! DOMES OF SHA - A long time ago, in a far corner of our galaxy, an event was taking place that would affect not just the tiny, dying planet of Olaxas, but worlds not even born as yet. Olaxas was once a thriving agricultural planet, relying on the vast Yander forests for most of its needs. Then came the Great War. No records of events from that terrible period have ever been found and even the Elders can recall nothing. It's as though the past has been erased. The only people to survive the war were the Sha tribe. A proud people that lived and worked in the encircled valley which they named after themselves. The land surrounding the valley was dead and barren and for all they knew, they were the only tribe now left on Olaxas. They knew that their planet was dying but some dreadful fear, that no-one could explain, prevented them from leaving the valley, even though they knew that if they did not move, they would soon die. They called this fear the Cold Fear and none had been strong enough to bear it's full force.......maybe you can?......SOMEBODY MUST!! With all three games, the location descriptions and messages, which are quite extensive in places, serve to generate a thought provoking atmosphere and for the newcomer there is a practical HELP function. Another nice touch is the inclusion of RAMSAVE, RAM RESTORE, OOPS (back one move) and AGAIN (repeat) commands. All good stuff!!! John
