Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Hints compiled by John R. Barnsley) (1)Work out in the College Gymnasium with the Boxing Coach ..... select "Go easy on me, etc......" from the sentence option and just hold down the '9' key to overcome him every time!! (2)Go to your classroom and select the sentences that refer to you seeing the students in turn.......this gives you access to your office. (3)Have a look at everything in your office, but pay particular attention to the jar, window and junk on your desk. The jar may be opened but NOT moved, and it contains a solvent. Pick up the junk mail, letters and papers off your desk to find a package. The package contains a copy of your Father's Grail Diary and is essential reading on your travels. The window - the one nearest the hot water heater - is now your only means of access to and from your office. (4)Open the window and go outside - you will automatically be taken to see Walter Donovan and subsequently returned to outside the college. (5)Don't go back in your office, instead select TRAVEL and go to Henry's house. (6)Go to the toppled bookcase - to the right of the first room - and PULL it. Move the cursor/cross to just about where your RIGHT hand is and select WHAT IS to locate some sticky tape. Examining it will reveal that it is lumpy. In fact it is the key to the chest by the door, but it needs 'unsticking'! Return to your office via the window. (7)Go to the jar and USE JAR WITH STICKY TAPE (After opening the jar, of course!). Now return via the window to Henry's House. (8)Try to pick up the tablecloth to be able to pick up the plant pot. After you have moved the plant pot, pick up the tablecloth. USE SMALL KEY WITH CHEST to locate an old book.......I suspect this may be used as a 'substitute' diary to fool the Nazis later! (9)You can talk to Chuck the Plant if you like, but your only other point of interest appears to be the little picture in the bedroom - the one of the 'cup' - again, I think this picture may be used later to fool the Nazis. (10)Now select TRAVEL and off you go to Venice, where you'll meet Elsa and find that you have your famous whip with you! (11)Leave the old Library before doing anything else, and return to the Terrace across the square. Examine everybody and look at the wine bottle on the Lovers table - far LEFT. PICK UP the wine bottle - they may not let you every time - and use this later as a water container. Note that manhole as it affords your means of escape from the Catacombs. (12)Return to the Library and look at the first stained glass window, then LOOK GRAIL DIARY - I think this clue means to follow the specified column number and then dig up the slab indicated ........ not really sure how I sorted this one out, yet I succeeded twice! (13)Find the cordoned-off window and PICK UP METAL POST (collecting the red cordon at the same time). You have THREE tries to locate the correct slab affording access to the Catacombs. USE METAL POST WITH (numbered) SLAB. (You now lose the metal post. (14)There are TWO LEVELS of Catacombs! Not sure of the order of business down here but you should end up at the tomb of the Crusader Knight! (15)The Pool of water must be drained from below before Indy can cross into more caverns. (16)The wine bottle is used to contain water from the pool. (17)A useful hook will be found on a skeleton's arm. (18)The slab embedded in the floor is the way OUT from below! (19)The torch must be USED WITH THE WINE BOTTLE to wet it, then picked up to operate a trapdoor where you safely fall to the lower level. (20)On the lower level, locate the dripping wooden plug in the ceiling - which is the drain for the pool, and USE HOOK ON PLUG. Now, cross the thin bridge to a cavern and read the inscriptions. Return to the LEFT of the plug and USE WHIP ON HOOK/PLUG to drain the pool (and destroy your bridge!). (21)The red cordon should be used as a drive belt to operate some wooden machinery which operates a bridge elsewhere.(TURN WHEEL). (22)The ladder leads up to where that embedded slab was (ONE way!). (23)At the locked wooden door, you will notice some carvings on the left. LOOK GRAIL DIARY and PUSH the carvings till they resemble the order shown to you....the door will then spring open. (24)At the skulls, LOOK GRAIL DIARY to see the order of depressing the skulls to sound a series of notes in the correct order.....that door will then open. (25)Open the Knight's Casket when you get to it. (LOOK IN CASKET) (26)Go to the grating and OPEN RUSTY LOCK and make your escape through the manhole to the Terrace.......now you can travel to the Nazi Castle. (27)I've not done much more, apart from explore the Castle, but I found the quick exit to a waiting motorcycle by mistake! (Before I'd located Henry!) In one of the rooms there is a big fireplace. The statue on the LEFT has a "Strange Belly". PUSH STATUE to open the fireplace and out you go!! Still haven't located Henry, though!!! NOTE: These are only my findings on initial explorations.......I may have missed something, and I'm not entirely satisfied with how I found the CORRECT slab in the Library...............More next issue!!
