News INDIANA JONES & THE LAST CRUSADE (The Adventure) is going down a bomb in the States! We are reliably informed that even Spielberg, who has been playing it virtually round the clock, keeps calling lead developer Noah Falstein for hints!! You'll find a few useful hints for this adventure within this issue, but I can now tell you that there are at least FOUR different solutions....as there will be with the follow on game from Lucasfilms: Maniac Mansion. MANIAC MANSION, which is an enhanced version of the old 8-bit adventure, has over 50 richly detailed rooms and FOURTEEN different combinations of 3-character teams! Should be out some time during November. The ST version of Pools Of Radiance is due shortly, followed by The Curse Of The Azure Bonds and Dragons Of Flame around Christmas or shortly after. (All RPGs) The follow-up to Legend Of The Sword is due for release before the end of the year in the shape of THE FINAL BATTLE. It is claimed that this adventure will contain a much larger vocabulary, bigger inventory of objects and superior graphics (including 3-D VIEWS of EVERY location) than its predecessor. SCAPEGHOST will be the last traditional text adventure from LEVEL 9!! Demonstrated at this year's PCW, they are currently developing their new system:- H.U.G.E. which they inform us stands for "wHolly Universal Games Engine". It is a games authoring system for 16-bit computers - Amiga, ST, IBM PC and MAC allowing 3D animation, scrolling and simultaneous development across ALL systems. FIRST to hit these shores from SIERRA ON-LINE's latest batch is MANHUNTER:SAN FRANCISCO. A direct follow on from "NEW YORK" featuring the same system, but you don't need to have played the first one to complete this........although it will obviously help! ELVIRA is putting it about in the press lately, isn't she? I hope after all this 'hype' that the game lives up to our expectations! MELBOURNE HOUSE is shortly to release DEMON'S TOMB but we have scant information on it as yet. PALACE will shortly launch a 'French-style-on-Sierra' adventure entitled FUTURE WARS:TIME TRAVELLERS in which you move through different ages planting bombs at strategic points in the defence systems BEFORE they were built! More details as we have them. Still no news from Infocom but we live in hope! Check out the new ZERO magazine featuring Mike Gerrard's adventure column - good luck with this one, Mike! They couldn't have chosen a more capable bloke (he said, creepingly!). We also wish Pat Winstanly as much success with her new ACE adventure column. (Bet I haven't spelled Stanwinly correctly?!) Is Pendragon really writing an adventure column for ATARI ST USER or is it just a rumour? John (who gets the blame for everything!!)
