Sentinel - Firebird RRP œ19.95 Reviewed by Sandra Sharkey I first played this game on my Amstrad CPC 6128 and became totally addicted to it. You can imagine my delight when I discovered that it was also available on the ST. Even better was the price I paid - around œ7, so shop around if you decide to buy it. Sentinel doesn't fall neatly into any category. It isn't an adventure and it certainly isn't an arcade game. There is an amount of strategy involved with it, however, but in my opinion Sentinel has that rare quality of being unique. If I was forced to categorise it then I think it would come closest to being a RPG. On the Amstrad version you have to play the game using the keys, which isn't difficult once you get used to them. On the ST version you can opt to use the mouse for moving around and the keys to build and absorb trees, boulders etc. The object of the game is to build up high enough to see the square on which your arch enemy the Sentinel is standing so that you can absorb her (yes HER!!). Your reward for defeating the Sentinel is the code number for another screen and as there are a possible 10,000 screens to access you won't complete Sentinel in a day. I've listed the codes for some of the screens to give you a bit of variety when you first start to play. (H) signifies that I found a screen to be particularly hard so don't tackle these screens until you are familiar with the gameplay. Beware, once started 'Sentinel' is very addictive and you'll lose a lot of sleep having 'just one more go'!
