Editorial Happy birthday to us ... happy birthday to us.... Happy birthday, dear SynTax (and all its readers).... Happy birthday to us! Welcome to Issue 7 of SynTax and my thanks to ALL of you for reading, contributing to and enjoying SynTax during its first year. Without your help and enthusiasm, I wouldn't have had such an enjoyable time putting the magazine together each month. I hope you will all continue to support it and make its second year even better! A few people have asked me how many issues they have left on their subscriptions now that some are coming due for renewal. Well, as I send out the last disk in your sub, I'll put a renewal form in with it - just to make sure you don't miss out on any issues! On the form is a section for "suggestion for improvement" - please do say if there is anything you think will make future issues more to your liking ... as you know by now, if it's feasible, I'll do it. One suggestion implemented in Issue 7 is a note of any STE-incompatibility in both the PD and general adventure lists. If you know of any other incompatible games I'll be very pleased to hear about them. Talking of the adventure lists, you'll see that this issue contains the full listing as promised, together with an integral index. I was amazed to see just how many games have already been covered in the first year! But it's also noticeable that some games have been completely neglected so (and you can probably guess what's coming next!) if YOU would like to provide anything on any of these games, don't be shy, send 'em in! I'm especially short of reviews and 3-in-1 hints for future issues. Remember that if you make a contribution on disk, you can pick a free PD disk to replace it. The PD list is growing all the time and there are some excellent disks on it so now's your chance to get one for free. Due to a slight breakdown in communications (how apt!), MugSpot won't be back till next issue. There were no alterations or additions to the MugList so that hasn't been repeated this time, just see Issue 6 for the MUG guest info. Thanks to Mike Brailsford of Spellbreaker! magazine for providing the free issues given as the prize for this issue's competition, I hope you'll all have a go at it. Thanks too to Zenobi Software for the review copy of Souldrinker and for distributing SynTax leaflets with all their software! Incidentally, Mike is still the only person offering help through the Helpline. I'm sure he'd like some company on there so if you're willing to help your fellow adventurers, either by post or over the phone, just let me know. For all of you who have been wondering what John Barnsley is doing now, he has set up an adventure-related PD library. The disks cost just œ2.00 each including P&P and the catalogue, which also comes on disk, is updated every 3 months. As well as adventure games, John is also selling his complete range of solution disks so why not contact him? Just write to John R Barnsley, 32 Merrivale Road, Rising Brook, Stafford, ST17 9EB and enclose a blank disk and stamp for the catalogue disk. Alternatively, send œ1.00 and John will provide the disk. Till next time, keep adventuring (and keep those contributions coming....!) Sue
