Lurking Horror - Infocom - deleted (Text-only) Reviewed by Laura Gow Being a typical student you've left your latest assignment to the last minute. Tough luck that the campus is currently in the grip of a terrible blizzard as you make your way over to the computer centre. As you sit at the terminal you recall that some queer things have been happening lately. Surely nothing to do with that weird professor in the department of Alchemy. Look at that snow. It seems to be getting worse. In fact if you don't watch out you might find yourself trapped..... This is an exciting story for the lover of text adventures. The game is well-written and the parser, as in the other Infocom games, works well, avoiding smart Alick replies. The puzzles are logical and not too difficult and there is a good feeling of suspense. The packaging contains some interesting items including a handbook to G.U.E. technical college and your student I.D. card. These have some information essential for the game. Basically you are let loose on the main building on the campus. There are a few people around but only the hacker is to be trusted. There are also a few other living creatures the like of which I haven't seen before nor wish to see again. As in any big building there is a substantial warren of corridors underground so there's plenty of exploration to be done. Actions don't have to be carried out in a particular sequence so if you get stuck at one problem you can usually go off and try some other route, unless you happen to get killed, of course. Just as well to save the game now and again. Though it is a horror story, Lurking Horror is not too gruesome and should appeal to any thriller fan. Happy hunting!
