News You'll have already seen in the adverts section about the reduction in price of two of Interactive Technology's adventures. The next game from them will be Deadfall, a follow-up to Weird Tales (reviewed this issue). It's a mystery story featuring Jules de Grandin and uses a new, improved version of Zen. Many of you will already know the name Topologika. If so, you'll be pleased to hear that they are planning to convert all their titles to the ST - that's Acheton, Kingdom of Hamil, Philosopher's Quest, Countdown to Doom, Return to Doom, Last Days of Doom, Avon, Murdac, Hezarin and Giantkiller. Phew ... that should be enough to keep any text-only fans quiet for a long time! The Doom trilogy at least will be produced as a compilation on one disk and the first of the games should be available early in 1991. They're also working on a new spoof adventure called Spysnatcher. As you know, I got pretty addicted to Sim City when I was reviewing it and though Sim Earth still isn't out, there is already talk of a Sim City 2 which will be a more detailed game than the original. The terrain will be more varied with mountains and valleys and the area covered will be much larger so that more than one city can be built, making it possible to have a multi-player game with two players controlling different cities. There'll be more scope within the cities too with sewer systems, schools and even high-rise buildings! Also under development are two add-ons for the original game, Graphics Sets 1 and 2. The first, Ancient Cities will contain Ancient Asia, Medieval Times and Wild West while the second, Future Cities will consist of Future USA, Future Europe and Moon Colony. Each can be played on its own or combined with one of Sim City's scenarios to give you something like Medieval San Francisco! Wargamers will be interested in ARC's plan to release Armada and Borodino as a twin-pack. They're also bringing out a brand new game, Gettysburg, in the near future. On the strategy side, Mike Singleton's follow-up to Midwinter will be called Wildfire and it promises to be a much more complex game which can be played on three levels, training, solo mission or campaign game.
