Editorial Life certainly hasn't been boring round here since the last issue. The good side of it was Christmas; I hope you all enjoyed the break as much as we did and thanks to everyone who sent us cards. It's a shame the holiday goes so quickly though. But before that was the 'down' side as anyone who has spoken or written to me since the last issue, or takes Red Herring, will know. Guess who went down with chickenpox just after the last issue went out? There was me thinking I had flu! So I had to have two weeks of doing absolutely nothing and then take it easy until the beginning of 1992, 6 weeks in all. I'd like to thank everyone who sent get well cards and also give a huge 'thank you' to everyone who rallied round with contributions for this issue after getting begging notes from me saying "I'm ill, please help!". If it hadn't been for your help, this issue would have been really late!! Well, enough of my November/December, what's new this issue? Firstly, the news section has been revamped yet again. I hope you'll find the changes useful. Secondly the PC version now runs in a choice of colours (thanks again to Graham Cluley who is being very patient and helpful each time I say "couldn't you do this to the program too?") and will also have a 'page backwards' option, if not by this issue, then by the next one. There'll be another change next issue. I've decided to bring all three versions into line and get rid of the screenshots section which we have only ever got running on the ST version. The questionnaire showed that this was the least popular section of the magazine, they're getting increasing difficult to capture with programs being more heavily protected as time goes on, plus I can think of better ways to use the space! It'll mean more room for reviews, hints and solutions - so long as they're sent in, of course! Again, I hope you'll approve of the change. Now, I'm trying to bump up the circulation of SynTax, as always, so I'm planning to do a 'best of' compilation covering the magazine so far and put it into the public domain. I think some people are wary of sending off for a disk when they have no idea what they're going to get for their money. If you've sent in contributions in the past that have been used in previous issues, please let me know as soon as possible if you would NOT want me to use them in this project. If you don't object, I'll assume it's okay. All contributions will be acknowledged and credited on the disks, of course. Cheers! Well, here's to a healthy, happy and successful 1992 to you all. All the very best, Sue
