Letters If you don't mark your letter "not for publication" and you write on a subject relating to adventuring or SynTax, I'll assume it's okay for me to quote from it here. ----------------------------------------------------------------- @~Only one letter this issue, some game news from Ron Rainbird, Holmes Chapel Early in December I got Heimdall. Instant hook-on. I could not leave it and it sustained me during Christmas. I finished it last week (sadly) and intend at a later date to do it again with a different set of characters (other than Heimdall himself who is a member, nay, a Chieftain, of any party). I got so immersed in the game that I neglected to keep notes. It really is superb. The best graphics I have yet encountered, fluid movement and wonderful combat sequences. Bane of the Cosmic Forge also came into my possession. I went by your recommendation and ordered the game from Strategic Plus. It was delivered within 48 hours! I have had four sessions with BOTCF so far and I as yet cannot make up my mind whether or not I like it. I keep trying out parties of six but they get wiped out before I get anywhere. I definitely do NOT like the disk protection method. Before entering the game, three minuscule icons are displayed on the screen which you have to line up with a set of three in a special booklet and then type in the name of the spell to which they refer. There are 16 sets of icons to a page and 16 pages to the booklet and as the icons on the screen are not the most clearly delineated I have seen, more times than not I give the wrong answer and have to start again with a fresh set. The game definitely has possibilities but, so far, I do not think it deserves the 'over the top' review given by the Boggitt (?) in Amiga Action. @~I often have trouble matching icons too. Sometimes several are @~similar and I frequently pick the wrong one. It's a pity when @~some RPGs are so hard at the start that they don't encourage you @~in the early stages. Bane had a very good review in QuestBusters.
