Secret of Monkey Island I - Guide, Part II

         Played on an Amiga 500 by Ron Rainbird

Return to the Town's Main Street. Walk to the citizen. Mention
Dominique and you can buy a Map. Carry on to a group of men from
whom you can get some gold pieces together with minutes of a PTA
Meeting.

Just past the Town Clock Archway is a General Store. Here you can
purchase a much needed Shovel and a Sword. Also buy some Breath
Mints. Now go past the Store to the Prison and give a Mint to the
Prisoner. His name is Otis and he will ask you for some Rat
Repellent. You will also learn of a Yellow Flower which grows in
the Forest and could be useful.

Walk back towards the area of the Circus Tent, keeping your eyes
peeled for a Yellow Flower. When found, take a petal and return to
town. Now try asking people for the Swordmaster. You will not find
this mysterious person straight away.

Go to a House on the extreme Eastern side of the Island. On your
way you should meet a Troll. Give him the Fish from the Jetty. At
the House you will meet Captain Smirk who, after some persuasion,
agrees to show you the rudiments (with an accent on the 'rude') of
swordplay because apparently the studied insult and rude reply are
essential for beating your opponent.

Your next step is to learn as many insults and their 'put-downs'
as possible. This you can do by going to a busy crossroads where
people will keep bumping into you - and there will be many, from
whom you will learn lots of erudite insults/answers.
