The Rescue of the Fair Princess Priscella from the Evil Baron Krauss's Hands - A Fantasy Adventure by Christian Anderson on PD 335/336 (AGT Text adventure for ST, PC and Amiga) Reviewed on an Amstrad PC1512 by "Kedenan" Your country is at war with the neighbouring country, Graul. This country is ruled by the evil Baron Krauss, who rules by black magic and terror. He is completely heartless and just kills for fun. His army of soldiers are just like him, they have no soul and they have been bewitched by Baron Krauss's black magician, Snake Tongue. The people of Graul are terrified and just dare not rebel against the Baron. The war was started by the Baron, he wanted the lands of your country because they were very rich in very valuable gold resources and the Baron is just as greedy as he is evil. The war has been going on for nearly two years and the battle is almost at a stalemate when something terrible happens. The King's daughter, Priscella, was kidnapped by the men of the Baron's secret army. The Baron has written a note to the King in which he says that if the King does not surrender the Princess will be raped by all his soldiers and then she will be killed and fed to the sharks. To stress his intentions the Princess's left index finger was enclosed with the letter. Naturally, the King becomes furious when he receives the letter, but also most unhappy, of course. His little daughter in the the power of the evil and wicked Baron Krauss! The King immediately sends for you, and begging on his knees he asks you if you will go and save the Princess. If you succeed you shall have the Princess's hand in marriage and half of his kingdom. Although you have never seen the Princess you accept the offer and you promise to go to the Baron's castle and not only free the Princess, but also kill the Baron, so that the war can come to an end. If you can kill the Baron all the evilness will disappear and peace will prevail. You know that your quest will be dangerous, but you also know that you can expect help from the people of Graul, because they hate the Baron so much. This help will of course only come to you if you behave yourself in a correct and pure-hearted way. Quickly, armed with your sword, you hurry on to Graul, moving only at night and so succeed in reaching the castle without being seen. You are facing the lowered dark cold drawbridge of the Baron's castle. You can see in the castle yard peasants bartering their wares and generally milling around. There are also guards wandering amongst the peasants giving everyone suspicious looks. You will have to go into the castle yard with extreme care if you are to survive, looking like one of the peasants. You will have to find some peasant's clothes that you can wear, before you go into the castle yard. When you do get into the yard and mingle with the crowd, you will come across a beggar, begging for money, you give him a small amount of money and he gives you some information about the location of the Princess. When you explore the yard further you will come to the stables and barn. In the barn with his armour removed you will come across a sleeping guard, so run your sword through him and take and wear his armour. What a perfect fit! Now you can pass for a castle guard and explore the inside of the castle, provided that you proceed again with extreme care. Remember that to go down into the basement you will need a lit torch, and when you go upstairs in the castle watch out for the magician and BEWARE OF THE DOG! A final word of advice, save before going into the unknown or you may lose your life and the hand of the Princess.
