Abandoned Places (Electronic Zoo) - Part 7 Sands of Fire, Lake Pureheart, Xorn Hills Solution by Brian Burke @~Continued from last issue. Sands of Fire: The task is to find part of the Staff of Supremacy. Map four small areas. Opening area and Stairs down left on a 6 x 10. First area 17 x 11. Second area 19 x 12 and a Pit area 7 x 13. I found the entrance to this level in the area underneath the building. The opening hall has a plant in the centre and three descending stairs. To the right of the stairs ahead is a lever that opens a door in the area down the second set of stairs to the left. Firstly go down the stairs to the left of the lever. To the right fight a baddie and go right to find a chest with money, ropes, treasure and a battle hammer. Behind the door at the end of the passage again and enter room to find another chest with money, treasure, potions, torches, ring armour and a shield. Return along passage, passing the stairs on the left to find a door and a passage to the left. You can open the door but are then blocked by another. Go down the passage round a couple of bends to find a button and a lever in an alcove to the left. The lever opens the door that you've just left. Round the corner from here is another button in the wall. Both buttons open up a passage in the next area. The door along from here needs a key which I didn't find. Returning to the door which the lever opened enter to find yet another door needing a key which I didn't find. Go left and open the second door with the blue key. This key is found in the pit area. So it's back up the stairs to go down the stairs to the right. Bear right from the stairs to find a chest with food, a lamp and a shield. Bearing left from the stairs leads you to a junction. To the left and right there are locked doors which need not be opened as the area behind can be accessed by taking the passage left near to the chest found to the right of the stairs. Go round the bends, passing the door that we'll eventually open with a green key and go on through the door opened by the lever in the initial hall. There's a web to the left of this door. Down the passage to a room with two plants. To the right of the room is the pit entrance. Use the rope to drop down although dropping down doesn't do too much damage. Once down the pit cast the Swimming Spell or take a potion and head for battle with the soldiers. Vanquish them to obtain a blue key and a green key. At the top of the area and to the left find some money and another green key. Return to the pit and climb up. Go to the door mentioned earlier requiring the green key and go straight on, bear right passing an alcove on the left to a door which needs the second green key to open. In this room find a button to the left of the plant that opens a door to the left of the pit we've just come from. Go to this door and enter, bearing left to find a button in the wall to the left which will open up a passage to the right of the first green key door. Through the door at the end of this passage past the button just pressed is a room with two baddies and little else. Back now to the newly opened passage to find a chest at the end containing a yellow key, treasure, a ring, food and torches. Retrace steps now up the stairs and re-descend the first set of stairs, go left and through the two doors previously opened to open the door to the left with the blue key. Fight ogre for a hematite key. Regain the Entrance Hall and go down the third set of stairs to open the door round the left hand bend with the yellow key. Open the next door with the hematite key. Fight two baddies and open the cupboard to find the Staff. Exit the level and see a vision of South of Xorn Hills and the West Shore of Lake Pureheart. Lake Pureheart: The Task is to find part of the Staff of Supremacy. Map two areas. The first on a 15 x 28 grid. The second on a 7 x 28 Grid. Enter level at 24/28 and go up passage to find a room with a column. To the left is a door and a message 'Remembrance is Important'. Head north to the door at 24/18 and another message 'Please Remember Every Step'. Through the door fight baddie and fight again up the passage to gain a white key. There's a passage to the left at 24/12 but you don't enter yet. Head up passing another passage at 24/7 to fight baddie and enter passage at 23/2. Along here there's a passage to the right at 18/2 but head for door to the left at 16/4. In this room pull lever to open a wall at 15/7. Go to the passage at 24/7 and passing two doors to the right find a door straight ahead at 18/7. Enter and beware fireball trap at 14/7. Through the door to the left at 12/8 pull a lever to open door at 22/12. Leave this room and head left to find stairs down at 9/12. Map the lower level on a separate grid. Lower level references will be marked with brackets thus (). There's a fair bit of to-ing and fro-ing. At the base of the stairs is a long corridor with doors to the left and the right. Each of the rooms, once accessed, contains an aggressive gnome who you need to wipe out. Each room also contains a chest and a lever. With the stairs at location (4/28) find a pressure plate at (4/15) that closes/opens a wall at (4/26). Go to the end of the passage to find a keyhole in the wall at (4/1). This keyhole needs a small golden key which we will find later. Use white key on the door to the left. After fight move to the left to access chest as standing directly in front denies access. Inside the chest is food, potions and money. The lever opens the door at (5/15). The chest in this room contains food and a torch. The lever opens a door in the level above at 19/6. So it's up the stairs and along the passage to find this door open. Pull the lever to open a door down the stairs on the lower level at (3/21). In this new room the chest contains food and torches. The lever opens a door at (3/9). The chest here contains food and a torch. The lever opens a door on the level at 15/26. Yes, back up the stairs to the first room with the column and message 'Remembrance is Important' at 22/20. Fight twice to find left door and bear right to find open door and a yellow key. To the left of the key is a pressure plate that opens the door at (3/13) in the lower section. Back down the stairs enter this room. The chest contains food and a torch and the lever opens the door to the right of the stairs at (5/27). Same things in the chest. The lever opens a door in the upper level at 9/3. So it's up the stairs again, along the passage and turn left to take the passage left at the top of the corridor. Round a bend to go right at 18/2, along this passage to a room with a column and find opened door. Fight for hematite key and pull lever to open door further in this level at 7/13. Back to the room with the single column and the 'Remembrance' message to enter the door to the right this time at 18/17. Fight and continue round the twisting passage to find an open door on the right. Enter and pull lever to open a door on the lower level at (3/17). Back downstairs you can't open this chest just yet. The lever opens the door at (5/11). Unlock this chest with the yellow key. I'm sorry I didn't note what, if anything, is in this chest. The lever opens the door at (3/5). Again you can't open this chest just yet. It's empty anyway! The lever opens a door on the upper level at 3/14. Up to the corridor we've just left to access this new room. There are two columns blocking half the room off. To the right pull the lever to open the door to the second half of the room. This door is reached by leaving this room and entering the door via the passage at 5/15. Enter room to step on pressure plate in the left corner that opens a door on the lower level at (5/7). Opposite this door is a series of false walls that lead to a small empty room. Down again to the new room. The chest contains money, food and a torch. The lever opens a door on the upper level at 22/6. Up to this room to pull lever that opens a door on the lower level at (5/3). The chest in here contains a malachite key, money, food and a torch. The lever allows access to the previously unopened chests along this corridor. One chest is empty and the other contains money, food and a torch. Go upstairs now to enter the 'Remembrance' door and go through the left hand door at 18/19. Bear left at the junction round bends, fight baddie en-route, to a door at 18/25. Unlock with hematite key. The chest needs a carnellian key to unlock it. The lever opens a room downstairs at (5/23). The chest in this room contains a small golden key and food. Don't know what the lever opens. Up the corridor to use the small golden key in the wall keyhole at (4/1). This opens a door at (3/25). The chest in this room contains a carnellian key and food. Don't pull the lever as it irrevocably seals the stairs off. Back up to the chest we couldn't open upstairs at 19/26. Use the carnellian key to obtain part of the Staff. For completeness sake go to the passageway at 24/12 and enter a large room with six columns. Go straight down to open the door with the malachite key. The lever creates and uncreates a wall at the bottom of the stairs preventing access to the corridor. Leave the area and on to the next. Xorn Hills: The Task is to find final part of the Staff of Supremacy. Map on a 28 x 28 Grid. The entrance is at 28/28. On up the corridor to find a pressure plate at 27/19. Never did find out what it activates. Round the next bend to fight three baddies. Along to enter a large room with logs in the centre at 22/16. Go right to enter door at 22/13. The lever here opens the door in front. Fight the baddie to the right for treasure. This could distract you from looking dead ahead to find a button in the wall at 22/10. This opens a door behind you on the other side of the logs at 22/21. Leaving that door for later press on to the right to find a door at 24/12. The keyhole in this room needs a green key. Leave room and go straight up to enter large room with five passages across and four down (including passages next to the outer walls). To the right of the entrance to this room at 25/8 fight to win a white key and a red key. There's a message in the second alcove from the right at the top of the room at 26/1 - 'Another Part of the Globe is at...' Head back to the passage with the button in the wall and open the door at 19/10 with the white key. Along the passage to find a passage to the right and a message 'Do Not Hurt My Plants'. Go right up the passage to fight for Treasure. Enter the room to find a green key among the plants at 4/5. Just keep to the south wall and go right and then left and the key is to the right. Back now to the keyhole in the wall at 24/13. Use the green key to open up wall in the Multiple Passage room at 19/5. Enter this passage to press button at 16/5 that opens a wall in a currently inaccessible corridor at 27/11. Return to the Log Room and go right to use the red key on the door at 17/16 after first entering door at 19/16. There are doors to the left and right of this passage and both must be visited to kill the two baddies that reside behind each. The door that is then revealed at 11/16 is opened by retracing steps to the Log Room. Enter the door at 22/19. The door at 22/21 will already be opened from pressing the button in the wall at 22/10. After fight pull the lever on the wall to open up the door we've just left at 11/16. Return to this door and enter. Fight baddie in a passageway to the right at 9/15 and go up this passage. Round a bend to the left and up another passage to the right at 8/12. At the junction find a turquoise key to the right at 9/11. To the left is a pressure plate that opens a door in this area at 6/16. Continue round to the right at the next junction and pull lever at 2/13 to open a door at 21/24. From here go down the passage to head right and right again to go through at 6/16. Fight baddie and then step forward to see recesses in front and to the left and right. The recesses to the left and right also contain invisible buttons in the wall to the side of each lever. Pressing these levers and buttons opens up the wall behind the party at 9/17. Enter this passage and go right to pull lever that opens up a wall in an, as yet, inaccessible area at 27/14. Head back to the Log Room and go south to enter newly opened door at 21/24. At the junction fight baddies in a passage to the right. Bearing left you'll fight a baddie down a passage at 16/27. There's a message at 14/21 'Another Part of the Globe is Near'. Arriving at the room with more logs go left and then right to find a chest at 7/28. Unlock with the turquoise key to find a green key, food, mace, robe and torches. Go up to passage on left at 8/26, go left and left to find another chest at 4/28. You need a yellow key to unlock this chest. Enter passage at 4/24 after fight and open chest straight ahead at 1/24 with the green key noting door to right at 2/23. Find a blue key, food, shield and a potion. Go left to open chest at 1/28 with the blue key to obtain a yellow key, dagger, hammer and torch. Back round to the chest at 4/28 and open with yellow key. Find a hematite key, money, treasure, potions and torches. Return to the door at 2/23 and unlock with the hematite key. Fight two baddies and head straight up to the lever at 2/20. Pulling this finally reveals a passage at the end of the initial entrance corridor at 27/15. At the end of this passage is a chest containing the final part of the Staff. On leaving the level the party sees a vision of Draken Tor. @~To be continued in the next file.
