Top Ten Adventures The Grue's Top Ten. ------------------ 1/Trinity Without doubt the finest adventure ever written. A superb blend of fact and fantasy, I couldn't imagine anyone other than Brian Moriarty being able to write a game about the Atomic bomb and pull it off with such style. 2/Wishbringer Not all that difficult (others would disagree). A fairytale type of story with a trace of evil just waiting around the corner. Almost a perfect game providing you don't count the gold coin bug! 3/Loom Another game that proves an adventure doesn't have to be difficult to be good. Even easier than Wishbringer but as the plot unwinds you are treated to a story so dark that it could make a grue shudder. 4/Infidel For me this is one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played. I drank 6 large bottles of coke while mapping the desert out. It also has a stonker of an ending! 5/Journey Infocom's first text/graphic, point/click interface adventure. Vastly superior to other games of its kind but sadly vastly underrated by the adventure buying public. Proof that Infocom could turn out brilliant games even if they weren't text only. 6/Suspect The only detective game that managed to keep me enthralled for more than thirty minutes. The number of characters and the interaction between them all and yourself is quite amazing for when it was released. 7/Zork Zero The ultimate finish to the Zork saga. A huge game with some very tough puzzles completed with Meretzky's unique humour. Essentially a text game tarted up with some nice graphics, although the on-screen map was a work of art. 8/Planetfall Perhaps not one of the best Infocoms but the introduction of Floyd the lovable robot made sure you would never forget playing this adventure. 9/Bureaucracy A tough but extremely witty game ... no! ... VERY funny game in a perverse sort of way. Going to the bank will never be the same again and as for flying ... 10/Zork I Can only be summed up by saying, this was a milestone in adventuring and set the standard for the rest to follow. Some of the games that just missed out on making my top ten. Twin Kingdom Valley The Hobbit Apache Gold Dallas Quest Steve McLaren's Top Ten ----------------------- 1.
