This adventure is based on a novel by Dick Francis, a former
jockey who regularly writes mystery novels to do with the horse
racing scene.  The novels take place at the track, the training
grounds, the stables; in fact anywhere and everywhere to do with
horses and horse racing.

In this story, the text adventure is about a millionaire race
horse owner who fires his trainer, Jody. He suspects Jody of using
some of his ponies in a horse racing swindle. Jody tries to get
his own back by stealing the owner's prize horse, which is named
Energise.

You play the part of the millionaire owner, travelling through the
countryside in your luxury car whilst trying to recover Energise.
The other principal characters are your girlfriend Alexandra and
your best friend Bert. To succeed, it is essential that you talk
to them both to solve the problems which appear before you.

The date and the time are always displayed on the screen, and to
make it more difficult a time limit is imposed. High Stakes is
more of a crime story in which you have to pull one or two tricks
to get justice in the end.
