@~This is Issue 21's 'Something different...' review. If you've @~taken a slight break from adventuring, why not write in and tell @~us about it? Pinball Dreams - 21st Century Entertainment RRP œ25.99 (Pinball simulator for Amiga) Reviewed by Steve McLaren And now for something entirely different from adventuring. What do you do when you are stuck on all your adventures? Start another one and have a dozen adventures going? No, not me. Since I live @+down by the seaside ~(lucky you - Sue) +I have enjoyed playing the pinball machines in arcades and became quite addicted to them. And since I read about Pinball Dreams, I just had to buy it and see for myself, and it is amazing. You can select any table from four options, they have it all there - amazing tunes while you play and all the noises and speech on some of the tables. It has good scrolling up and down the table. It is not slow at all. Once the session hots up the action becomes fast and furious and you have to be quick on the flippers to keep the ball in session. Let me take you through the pinball tables. Now, my favourite is Beat Box. It has a good strong funky beat and you have dollar targets plus star rollovers, ball trap - all sorts of weird and wonderful things to shoot at and get a fantastic score. The next table I like playing is Nightmare. It has a very haunting tune, could have been written for Ozzy Osbourne. The song sounds really familiar to me. This is the hardest table to score on but once you get into it there is no stopping from reaching the ultimate goal. And this has speech on it as well as all the other goodies. The third table is Steel Wheels, coming from a western theme. It is a very enjoyable table - gunshots ringing in your ear, the whip cracking, sounds of a train coming down the track and the guard saying "All aboard" - just great. And now for the fourth table. This one is just very basic and is the easiest table. It is still enjoyable but this one I play the least of and it is called Ignition, a space age table with all the sounds of launching your rocket and all other things going on. I find this game very addictive. Once I start to play I find I cannot stop for hours on end and to get the highest score on the table takes some doing. So go on and have some fun and buy Pinball Dreams, you won't regret it. Oh, I forgot to mention the main tune on loading, I have never heard anything better than this tune to come from the Amiga. It is just amazing and is really good. Gameplay 10/10 Music 10/10 Sounds 10/10 Speech 8/10 Overall score 92% @~Pinball Dreams is available through Special Reserve at the @~reduced price of œ16.49.
