SPACE ALIENS LAUGHED AT MY CARDIGAN (SlySoft) Solution by Tom Lorimer Following my review of this Text Adventure Game in issue 21 of SYNTAX in which I gave it the 'thumbs down' because of the amount of bugs, I felt it only proper that I should finish the game before I give it my final judgement. The scoring system in this game is not very good, so my Solution is aimed at finishing the game and not trying to get maximum points from it. PART 1. VILLAGE CENTRE. Let's start by dropping the leather jacket and pocket as they are of no use. You can also forget about the Policeman and the Pigeon as they too are useless. Head north to your Gran's house. Enter the kitchen and get the Beer from the Fridge. Now make your way to the Crossroads and go East into the Electrical shop. Pick up the Device. Head for the Small Crossroads and go East into the Dilapidated Building. Give the Beer to the Tramp. Keep the Stereo but ignore the Bronze Key and the Cabinet. Cross the street and enter the Run-down Building. Take the Tea-bag but ignore the Lampshade and the Grandmaster. Go to the Cafe and head North towards the Counter. Pick up the Buns and give them to Hugh Jeater. Say 'TEABREAK' to the Woman behind the counter. Give the Stereo to Ford Perfect and take the Batteries. Head for the General Store and get the Plank of Wood. Take the Wood to the Handicraft shop and give it to the Person. Go to the Fork in Road and drop the Needles and the Tea-bag. Go back to the General Store and get the Sponge Cake. Now take the Sponge Cake to the Abandoned Building and give it to the Female Tramp. Put the Coin and the Batteries into the Device and drop the Sponge Cake. You must remember to come back for it later. This is the point in the Game where most people got killed. I died a Thousand Deaths in this room before I found the right Command to use. What would you type when about to be savaged by a killer dog? 'Beam me up Scotty' is what I said. WRONG. You must type 'Give Device to Owner' [No Comment] Take the Pattern but ignore everything else in the Alley. Return to the Fork in Road and drop the Pattern and Wool. Go South and enter the Old House and pick up the Can. Type 'Give Device to Owner' Return to the Fork in Road and drop the Can. Return to the Abandoned Building and get the Sponge Cake. The Dog will chase the Cat and allow you to go North and return to the Fork in Road. Not to make the Game too easy, you must now fill the Can with the Wool, the Pattern, the Needles, the Tea-bag, the Cake and the Device. Take the Can and give it to your Granny. When you get your Cardigan, return to the Village Centre. This is a good time to save the game. PART 2. DARK ROOM OF SPACESHIP Go North to the Gangway and then Save the Game at that point. Head East and pick up the Pass Card, then go East again. Enter the Grand Hall then go East into the Study. Pull the Book to find the Brass Key, ignore everything else. Go North into the Kitchen then East into the Store. Pick up the Flour but ignore the Security Suit. Enter the Kitchen and give the Flour to the Chef. Go West into the Dining Room and pick up the Wine Bottle. Go East into the Gold Enticed Bedroom and give the Wine Bottle to the Guard. Now you can give the Sponge Cake to the Princess. Go South into the Bedroom and drop the Candle. There is a Bug in this part of the Game, so you will have to drop the Candle again and also make sure that you have the Strange Coin before you leave this room. You can now make your way back to the Gangway. Head West and South to the middle of the Corridor. Go West into the Holodeck and ask the Woman about Barman. Give the Note to the Barman and then go East and South. Enter the Hold to the West and give the Card to the Traveller. Leave the Hold and then climb the Ladder into the Control room. Put the Card into the Hole and ignore everything else. Now make your way back to the West-end of Gangway. Go North to the Start of Gangways. PLEASE NOTE; if you wish to explore these Gangways, I suggest that you Save the Game first as you may Die at any moment. Here is the most direct way to the object that you require. East, South, West, South, Down, East, Up, East. Pick up the Strange Key and ignore the rest. Now you can make your way back to the West-end of Gangway. Go East and North into the Entrance to the Forest Trail. PLEASE NOTE; if you wish to explore the Forest, I suggest that you Save the Game as you may get lost in the Swamp. Here is the most direct route through the Forest. East, South-East, East, East, South-East, South-West, Down. Put the Coin into the Slot and open the Door then go East. Do not touch anything here until you have gone West into the Main Deck of the Spaceship. I am sure that with only two moves to go, you would like to finish the Game on your own. So take your pick and then find the final Command to operate the Switch. Good Luck. FINAL JUDGEMENT. Apart from the annoying Bugs and some Odd Commands, I suppose that 'Space Aliens Laughed at my Cardigan' is no better or worse than most AGT Text Adventure Games. Tom Lorimer.
