1.  Over 400,000 letters were sent to the White House in America
asking for the first Space Shuttle to be named 'Enterprise'.

2.  The original TV series of Star Trek is the most successful and
popular sydicated television show in the world.

3.  It took Gene Roddenberry's idea for Star Trek, 3 years to
reach the screen.

4.  Leonard Nimoy is the only original cast member from the pilot
episode to still be in Star Trek.

5.  The original TV series ended June 3rd 1969, shortly after
which Neil Armstrong was the first man to land on the moon.

6.  It cost 44 million dollars to make Star Trek: The Motion
Picture.  And to date it has grossed 175 million dollars.

7.  Star Trek: The Next Generation is based 78 years (24th
century) ahead of the original TV series.

8.  Leonard Nimoy directed Three Men and a Baby.

9.  James Doohan served as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force
during World War II.

10.  DeForrest Kelley appeared in Westerns.

11. Nichelle Nichols, after becoming familiar with NASA, became
active in the astronaut recruitment programme, increasing the
participation of women and minorities within NASA.

12. In the original TV show episode 'Where no man has gone
before', Captain Kirk's middle initial appeared as a 'R' and not
as a 'T' on a grave stone!
