Secret of Monkey Island - A Guide Part 9 As played on an Amiga 500 (1 meg) by Ron Rainbird @~Continued from last issue. If you followed implicitly the indications of the Head you should have arrived at the ghost ship of Le Chuck. You have to proceed on board if you are to get the voodoo root that will beat the Captain and, hopefully, make the lovely Governor be eternally grateful to you. However, you will probably be chased off the boat by one of the ghostly crew, so take the necklace from the Head and wear it to make you invisible. If the Head is reluctant to give it up, threaten it with immersion in the Lava. Once you wear the Necklace, you can board the ship without fear (well, almost without fear). The door on the stern squeaks, so go to the door opposite (Le Chuck's Cabin) and get the key hanging on the wall. Do this by pointing the magnetic compass towards it and it will come to you silently. Go back to the main deck and down the hatch to the Crew's Quarters. You need to get a rum bottle from a sleeping drunken ghost but he will not let go of it. Carry on through the room to a part containing ghostly animals. Pick up a chicken and get a feather from it. Go back to the drunken sailor and tickle him until he drops the rum bottle. Get the bottle and go back to the room containing the animals and with the key from Le Chuck's cabin unlock a hatch and descend. Some rum poured into a feeding dish will dispose of the guardian rat and when it has passed out go to a tub and get a handful of lard. Now you have the means to silence the squeaky door opposite Le Chuck's cabin and, again hopefully, find the Governor and the Voodoo Root, but all you find are ghost tools. Take them back to the hold where there is a glowing crate and force it open. Hooray, at last you have discovered the hiding place of the Voodoo Root, but why you are cheering Goodness knows, because you still have a worrisome time ahead. @~To be concluded next issue.
