Captive Hints sent in by James Judge Basic Game Objectives: Captive is a game of freedom. You're imprisoned in a prison station which is jointly protected by ten factions of a warmongering society. In order to rescue yourself you must use the ancient briefcase computer and the four droids that you found 'on the other end' of the body link system. Although you don't know it at the start, there are ten bases to infiltrate and destroy before you can mount the offensive against the prison station and rescue yourself. Each base has its own distinct design and layout, and each is populated by an individual selection of alien hordes. Before you enter a base you must find your way 'cross country' in a hostile outside world from the landing site to the base entrance. MISSION 0 The first mission is actually very easy to complete once you've got use to the controls and functions of the briefcase and droids. It involves ten small to medium sized bases and an easy space station to rescue yourself from. BASIC STRATEGY What I normally do is, once I've got into the first base on planet Butre is to find a shop and buy sixteen balls (you should have fought a few monsters to get to the shop and collected their money). I then give eight balls each to the back characters, leaving the front two to fight the monsters with their hands until I can get some knuckle dusters and battle gloves. A few bases later I make sure the front droids are kitted out with the best fire axes and the back two with magnums. When the front two are skilled in guns I will then sell all the hand to hand weapons and give them guns. The best way to advance the droids is to make sure that the front two go up to twenty four on each skill and the back two go up to nine on each skill until they are skilled in all the weapons and then I start to bring them up to maximum. When you start to buy new armour sell the back two's armour and give them the front two's armour and buy better armour for the front two as they will get the most abuse. Do this every time you but new armour. REMEMBER Search ALL cupboards. A base may contain more than one computer. A base may not give you a Planet Probe. Make sure your droids have all got a high Robotics score, especially the front two, so they can use better armour. Every base is completable. If you can't do it, contact me.
