SPELLCASTING 301 : SPRING BREAK - Legend Entertainment Solutions by Neil Shipman and Maureen Barton @~This issue, I have two solutions for Spring Break, one from Neil @~Shipman and one from Maureen Barton. Neil's is more of a guide @~while Maureen's is step by step so, as with the Lure of the @~Temptress solutions a few issues ago, I have combined the two @~files, taking the contributors' points from the originals. @~Neil's solution is first, then Maureen's, so you can decide @~exactly how much help you want - a hint or 'the works'! ------------------------------------------------------------------ (1) Neil's Solution General Tips ------------ A. The order in which the five items are pushed off the magic carpet will determine where they can subsequently be found: 1st - Mansion Grounds. 2nd - Cliff Bottom. 3rd - Mouth of Mine. 4th - Underwater City View. 5th - Village Centre. B. It helps if you immediately boost your amount of gold by pushing the sack off last. C. By pawning everything you don't need and the items you have made use of, you don't have to do any gambling at all. D. To get past the dog drop the haunch at the fence and give him a night to burrow a way through. E. You can't cross the bridge until after the sandcastle contest. Then UPPSSY right-handed ratchet into left-handed one and give bolt and ratchet to workman. F. Wait until after completing the drink mixing and guzzling contest before getting the key from the rummy. You can then buy another strawberry, SPURJ it, FOY and show the resulting humongous daiquiri to him. G. You can't get rid of the jellyfish until after the suntan contest. Then simply carry the sliced bread and peanut butter. H. To increase your level of spellcasting ability you must complete the tasks set by the wizard in the lighthouse: (a) Get the bulb repaired - In the Mine Shop. (b) Find some pearl dust - Give the pearl from the oyster to the Hardware Shop owner. (c) Find the Great Seal - In the treasure chest. I. The locations of the four seahorses of the Apocalypse are: (a) Sweet - SPUNJ tree on Windswept Road. (b) Fuzzy - Open egg on pedestal in Mer City. (c) Golden - At the centre of the hue maze. (d) Soggy - In the conch shell revealed by drinking the bisque. RATANT RATANT to give RATTAN. RATTAN conch to mutate it. Put pimento moss and spellbook in roc nest to recover RATANT spell. J. You need to find five ways of getting out of jail: (1) Dig with shovel. (2) Give Bisque to rat. (3) Eat slimfish. (4) UPPSSY bars. (5) UPPSSY can. Spray bars. Wait. Chapter One : Worth the Weight ------------------------------ Saturday 10.30 a.m. - Blather Beach FRIMP each weight just before Ralph picks it up. Chapter Two : Life of the Party ------------------------------- Sunday 7.00 p.m. - Moe's Suite Give studfinder to bimbos when they emerge into the Hotel Lobby at 7.05 p.m. Then immediately head for the party with the wooden two-by-fours (stud!). Alternatively, drop wooden two-by-fours in Moe's Suite before giving studfinder to bimbos. Chapter Three : A Man's Beach is His Castle ------------------------------------------- Monday 1.00 p.m. - Blather Beach Give shovel to Sid. PEAWEE Sid. (The waves uncover a right-handed ratchet.) Chapter Four : A Sure-Fire Flop ------------------------------- Tuesday 10.30 a.m. - Pool Give roc plumage to Fred. Blow roc call after GLY brothers have had their flop. Chapter Five : Bottoms Up ------------------------- Tuesday 7.30 p.m. - Sand Bar (a) Mixing Drink : RATANT SPUNJ to give SPURJ. SPURJ strawberry. FOY to create humongous daiquiri. (b) Guzzling Drink : Put absorption pill in daiquiri. Chapter Six : Big Tees ---------------------- Wednesday 11.00 a.m. - Beach by Bandstand Give gloves to Roxanne at the Sand Bar before this contest. Then give your t-shirt to her and UPPSSY her (Wow!). Give dehydrated falsies to Mona. (A jug is left behind. Fill it with water from the Stream of Consciousness.) Chapter Seven : What's the Matador? ----------------------------------- Wednesday 5.00 p.m. - Arena Inflate float. UPPSSY it to change duck into cow. Show it to bull. Pour laxative in trough while bull is distracted. Chapter Eight : Have a Brawl ---------------------------- Wednesday 8.30 p.m. - Dance Club KITCHEMY lead pipe to produce baguette. RATANT KITCHEMY to give BOTCHEMY. BOTCHEMY banana skin to produce sword. Chapter Nine : Do the Wave -------------------------- Thursday 10.00 a.m. - Beach by Snack Bar Pour water on Fred to wake him before this contest begins. Wear medallion. Surf immediately after Fred before Gary gets a chance. Chapter Ten : Bronze Cheer -------------------------- Thursday 3.00 p.m. - Blather Beach Throw color bomb at Azure to change her into Scarlet. Open case and put it in the vat of lemon juice before this contest begins. Then, a little while before the judging, give case to Ollie and apply tube to yourself. (Peanut butter is left behind.) Chapter Eleven : Volley of the Dolls ------------------------------------ Friday 9.30 a.m. - Beach by Volleyball Game Alternatively HISINFISA and HUFINPUFA ball. (Moe announces practice session for building human pyramids in the Arena at 12.30. There you are given a whistle. Blow it.) Chapter Twelve : Do the Riot Thing ---------------------------------- Friday 2.00 p.m. - Beachedwhale Boulevard outside Dance Club Get key dropped by employee and use it to enter the basement of the Aquarium. UPPSSY foundation to start demolition and get out quickly. (A baby squid is left behind and the Judge sets your final task.) Chapter Thirteen : A Lot of Bull -------------------------------- * * * * * * WARNING * * * * * * This is the full sequence of moves necessary to complete the game so don't read this chapter unless you really are stuck. The mine is a very simple maze with just 5 locations and can be easily mapped once you have either bought the torch or GESSIBUBed the lantern into a flashlight. You can get to the spring by going E.NE.NE from the western Mouth of Mine or N.E from the southern Mouth of Cave. Then go East to make the giant squid appear. Give the baby squid to it and go East into Sitnalta and open the OKEEDOKEEYO spell box. You must follow the path on the scroll exactly: E. E. N. E. E. E. S. E. E Put sweet seahorse in birdbath N. N. N. W. S. W Climb tree. Put fuzzy seahorse in nest Down. W. N. N. W Blow whistle. Climb pyramid. Put soggy seahorse in tureen Down. W. W. W. S. S. S Put golden seahorse in pot E. N. E. E Sit on throne OKEEDOKEEYO bull Wait until after the Judge's transformation into Joey and Joey's obligatory explanation of events, then DESSIBUB bull Get head and go South to finish. ------------------------------------------------------------------ (2) Maureen's Solution Beach - Greet woman (book changes) WOO. SU - Take spellbook, breadsticks, trophy, instruction sheet and confirmation letter. Carpet - Take newspaper and read it. Wait until given crystal then take off. Follow directions on your instruction sheet until carpet malfunctions then push off trunk, bar, sack, case and keg. You land in the Plaza. Go to hotel and to your room (ground floor - room number 17). Take Sid's book bag and follow him to the beach. Beach - At weight lifting, FRIMP light weight, FRIMP medium weight, FRIMP heavy weight. The judge appears to arrange competition. Losers to go home and not attend Naughtytail Spring Break for the next five years. Explore around and buy shovel early and keep it with you. Buy UPPSSY box, studfinder, PEAWEE box. Sell Sid's bag, textbook, nose shield and trophy. Find any item you can that were thrown from carpet and also find gloves. Sell the trunk and denim. Go to the restaurant and take the wood. You will be arrested and thrown into jail. Give the breadsticks to the rat who will turn into a prince and unlock the cell for you. Sell the breadsticks. Talk to the workman at the bridge and examine the stream. Explore north of the cliff road, find the haunch and go south to the end of the road. Drop the haunch and the dog will start digging a hole. Buy bolt and give it to the workman and listen to him. Visit the light house and get the light bulb and treatise. Read the treatise. Look in the cannon and take the moss. Sell treatise. You need to return to the hotel and sleep at about 10.30 pm. SUNDAY Go to room 911 and buy a ticket to visit Hilary. Take the suitcase and open RATANT box. Sell tie and suitcase. Go to the end of the road and go west via the hole which the dog has dug. Open SPUNJ box and collect item dropped from carpet. Go west and solve the maze - Yellow, green, brown, black, white, red, blue, purple, green, brown, white, black, red, yellow, purple, blue. You are given a golden seahorse. Go south and see Amber. Leave by gate (press button to open) or climb the statue to the NW. Party - At 7 pm give studfinder to bimbos and take the wood to Moe's suite. Take the mushrooms and studfinder (to sell) and eventually go to room and sleep. When you wake the shovel is missing. MONDAY Go to Blather Beach (Sid has your shovel). PEAWEE Sid and he turns into a youngster and builds a sand city. Take the shovel and go and sell shovel, mushrooms, studfinder and wood. Return to the beach at 1 pm when you will win the competition. A right-handed ratchet is washed up onto the beach. UPPSSY ratchet (now left-handed) and take it to the workman at the bridge. He mends bridge and gives you 5 gold. Pick up the ratchet. Explore north of the bridge. Take the plumage from the roc's nest, mend the bulb in the shop, collect item dropped from carpet at the mouth of the mine. Take the bulb to the lighthouse and you go up to Level 4. You are now asked to get pearl dust. Drop all and go to the west of the lighthouse. Open BIGFINNO box and you become a merman. Enter ocean, NW, take oyster, S, take medallion, N, SW, take item dropped from carpet, S, greet mermaid and follow her, take scroll, W. S, take egg, examine plaque, examine throne, N, N, NE, SW, open trap, put all in trap, UP, wait until you return to human form. Go east and retrieve your belongings then go to the wharf where you will find the things you put into the trap. Open the egg to find a fuzzy seahorse. Sell boat, sack and ratchet. Open oyster and take pearl. Take pearl to hardware to get it pulverised into dust. Take pearl dust to lighthouse and you are raised to level 5. You are then asked to get the Great Seal of Naughtytail Guild. When you go down you find a dropped collar. Go to room and go to bed. TUESDAY Take the plumage and go and buy roc call at souvenir shop. Go to the pool and give plumage to Vince. When he is about to dive blow the roc call and a roc will appear and pick him up and then drop him into the pool from a great height to win the competition. You get put into jail. Ratant BIP to BIM. Cast BIM and the sheriff will let you out as you appear to be ill. Go and buy a strawberry and an absorption pill. Sell roc call and get the bar. Go to sand bar and watch the contest. Just as contestants are introduced for the next contest give the gloves to Roxanne. She wins the contest and offers to enter T-shirt contest for you. Go to windswept road and SPUNJ roots to free scented seahorse. Go back to sandbar for the drinks contest. Give the bar to Vince. RATANT SPUNJ to SPURJ. SPURJ strawberry, FOY (this makes a giant strawberry daiquiri). Eat pill and drink daiquiri to win contest. Take martini, bar and plumage. Go and buy slimfish. Sell bar. WEDNESDAY Take T-shirt and slimfish. Buy falsies and sell beer keg. At contest give T-shirt to Roxanne, UPPSSY Roxanne and give falsies to Mona. You win contest. Pick up water jug. Go and buy laxative and get the float. At the arena blow up the float, UPPSSY float which turns into a cow float. You draw the short straw. When it is your turn to fight the bull throw the float at the bull and pour the laxative into the trough. Wave cape (bull drinks), wave cape again and the bull runs out of the arena. You get invited to the Dance Club at 8.30 pm. You also get arrested. In jail eat the slimfish to enable you to escape. Sell the float and buy rust spray. Go to the Dance Club. When Bulldozer gets the pipe KITCHEMY pipe (Ralph is thrown a banana skin). RATANT KITCHEMY, BOTCHEMY skin. Greet Lola. Judge enters and awards more points. Take baguette and sword. You are arrested again. Spray spray on bars and wait to get out of jail. Go to room 1812 at Coral Reefer. Get mudpack and dress from Lola. Go back to your own room and sleep. THURSDAY Take medallion and case. You hear that Freddy is hung over. Go to the river and fill jug. Sell baguette, sword, float and spray can. Go to Freddy's room (2925). Throw water over him to wake him up. Go to the beach by the snack bar for surfing competition. Wear the medallion and when Fred has surfed go west into the water and you make a spectacular win. Go and sell medallion, gown, mudpack and water jug and buy bomb. Go to Amber's house and throw the bomb. Everything turns red and Amber becomes Scarlet and opens door to basement. Go down, open case and put tubes in juice. Put tubes back in case and go to Blather Beach and give the case to Ollie. He gives out the tubes. Apply tube. You tan very quickly and win the contest. Some peanut butter is left behind. Take it. Go and buy bread and get the collar and then visit the jellyfish who is frightened that you are going to make a peanut and jellyfish sandwich and goes into the ocean. Open the chest and a great seal jumps out. Put collar on seal and take it to the lighthouse. You are raised to level 6. Go and gamble for more money. Buy key and go to the mining town and wake banker. Show him the key. He brings box. Unlock and open box. HUFINPUFA and HISINFISA spells. Sell box and key and go back to room and sleep. FRIDAY Go to volleyball game and HISINFISA and HUFINPUFA ball until you win by 3 points. Moe tells you to meet at arena for pyramid building practice at 12.30 pm. Go to the restaurant and order bisque. Eat bisque and take conch shell. Go to the arena and blow whistle for pyramid building practice (make sure you keep the whistle). Go to Beached Whale Boulevard. At 2.30pm someone comes out of the aquarium and drops a key. Take key. The judge announces competition. To wreck everything - go to the aquarium and unlock door. Go east and down and open GESSIBUB box. Take the lantern, examine foundations, UPPSSY foundations and get out fast. The aquarium collapses and monster escapes into the ocean and a baby squid is left on the floor. Take squid. You win the contest. The judge says that as the contest is so close whoever kills the Prokturingam Bull will be the outright winner. You are arrested again. UPPSSY bars to get out. Get the seahorses and sell lantern. RATANT RATANT. RATTAN shell and take seahorse. Go to roc's nest and put moss in nest, put spellbook in nest. Take spellbook and you find that RATTAN has changed back to RATANT. Buy torch in mining village. Go into the mine. Go NE, NE, E, squid appears and takes her baby. Go east and open OKEEDOKEEYO box. SITNALTA Examine scroll. Go E, E, N, E, E, E, S, E, E, put sweet seahorse in bird-bath. Go N, N, N, W, S, W, climb tree and put seahorse in nest. Go D, W, N, N, W, blow whistle, climb pyramid, put soggy seahorse into tureen. Go D, W, W, W, S, S, S, put golden seahorse in pot at the end of the rainbow. Go E, N, E, E. The ground shakes and a throne appears. Sit on the throne which collapses and tips you into an underground passage in front of the bull. OKEEDOKEEYO bull, RATANT GESSIBUB. The Judge appears and turns into Joey Rottenwood and you hand over the small bull. DESSIBUB bull. The larger bull hears amplified squeals and leaps across chasm and swallows Joey. Sickened by the taste it spits him out and the head that swallowed Joey falls off. Joey is covered in a load of diarrhoea. Take the head and go south which is a short cut to Blather Beach. As you go you notice a trail indicating that Joey has escaped. Sid reads that when the bull's head is separated from the body it turns into a time bomb with a fuse of 15 to 20 minutes. Ralph throws the head into the Plaza! Total Score 7500
