The Stone Of Farewell - Tad Williams œ5.99 - Legend Books Read By James Judge I did it, you know, I finished this quicker than the first book. Phew. TSOF is the second book in a series of novels by the great author, Tad Williams. The series is Memory, Sorrow and Thorn. The first book is The Dragonbone Chair which starts the epic tale of Simon Snowlock and his quest for the three great swords, Thorn, Sorrow and Minneyar (which may be memory in a strange language). TSOF follows straight on from the DBChair and so it's a good idea to read the first book first even though there is quite a comprehensive synopsis at the start. There are two main storylines in this book. The first is Simon's party who are, at the start of the book, residing (some against their will) in a Qanuc (troll) stronghold. The other is Prince Josua and his small band who escaped the downfall of Naglimund and are now being chased around the Aldheorte by the White Foxes (Norns). Both parties get a message from the wise woman, Geloe, to go to The Stone Of Farewell which no-one knows about. This is what the book is mainly concerned about and the overwhelming growth of the Storm King's power and influence. Elias, High King of Osten Ard, is falling deeper into the rut he has gotten himself into with the red-robed Pyrates and the land is suffering greatly for it. Miriamele is being pushed and pulled hither and thither, against her will, being pursued by the now beardless Isgrimnur. I could go on and on about the book but if you have read the first book, I won't spoil any more of this book for you.
