Police Quest 3:The Kindred - Jim Walls/Sierra RRP œ39.99 (Graphical adventure for PC and Amiga) Reviewed on PC by Russell "Rusty" Dowling I have always been a great fan of the Sierra games. These games leave you almost drooling at the mouth. This game is no different. Police Quest follows on after your success at destroying the drug dealer Jessie Bains in the first two games. You think you can rest assured that you will slow down and have a few easy cases but the game doesn't allow you to. Your wife is stabbed and is in hospital in a condition that could turn either way. You have to interview bag ladies and what sorts and chase up traffic offences in court. You end up having shoot outs and high speed chases with drunks and cops. The graphics are great with a choice of video graphics adapter, colour graphics adapter etc. With that choice you can get excellent graphical results and scenes. The game is logical and, like the first two, well thought out. Police Quest III is different from the first two games in that, when driving, you only control speed and direction via arrows pointing at the streets you want to go down. This game has the usual save and restore commands for easy use of saving and getting saved games. Police Quest III gives hours of puzzling fun as you can save and restore the game at any stage so when you see a difficult stage coming up you don't have to go back to the beginning when you die. Although not every game can be completely action packed every second, as in this game boredom did start to sink in when having to repeat some scenes over and over. Conclusion: This is another great game from Sierra. It is a game for those people out there who see themselves as future computer game detectives and puzzle solvers like me. With Police Quest III I was glued to the screen looking for any clue that would give away the killer. I am very eager to see a sequel if they decide to put one out (or have already). Registration is as cheap as a postage stamp. The cost to buy a game like this is around ninety Australian dollars and the cost to replace any disk is ten dollars after a ninety day warranty. Overall Rating: 9/10 Difficulty: 6/10 @~Police Quest IV was released recently on the PC ... Sue - o -
