How to get into Alagner's storeroom in New Magincia and get his
notebook:

After answering Alagner's questions about life and death, he gives
you the key to his storeroom and offers a reward for bringing back
the notebook. To get to the back room of his storehouse, get near
the teleporter in the centre (the one with four blue chairs round
it).

Move the chairs to walk round the teleporter and to the north
wall which is an illusionary wall (you can walk through it). Once
through there, use Telekinesis on a switch to the west to open the
door to the back room. In the back room is a table with several
chairs around it and a room on stilts too high to get into. Now, I
think this is the bit you mean ...

Move the chair from the right of the table and the candles off the
table. Place crates on the ground next to the table to act as
steps to get on the table. Place the other six crates on the table
to make a staircase (three crates in the north, two south of the
three and one south of the two). Get the notebook from the
storeroom.
