Ultima Underworld II - Loth Tomb From a phone call with MerC MerC was playing this RPG towards the end of February and hit a very tough part towards the end of the Loth Tomb. The aim of Level 4 is to reach Praecor Loth but he is guarded by three liches who are very hard to defeat. The first is a thief called Morphius, the second a magician, Umbria, who is with two golems and the third is Lethe, a tough warrior. After a lot of struggling, MerC defeated Morphius but he couldn't defeat the other two liches. In the end he said he would suggest avoiding them - it IS possible - unless you have a very high character. His paladin was at Level 14 (4,529 XP) at this point. So, once past Morphius, avoid Umbria (cast Protection from Flames and he won't be able to touch you too much) and go east into the room past him. You have to cross the columns by jumping over. MerC said, make sure you jump on the right hand side of them, not the middle, otherwise you'll be teleported elsewhere. At the far side is a pentacle with candles. Move the candles to let you get in to see Lethe. Again, avoid Lethe, dash east into the side room through the monsters and pull the chain. MerC found Lethe had vanished when he came back out of the room (I bet that was a relief!). You can now enter Loth's Tomb .... - o -
