Eye of the Beholder 2 Help supplied by The Unknown Adventurer @~Following a phone call from this mysterious person, who was @~stuck in the Medusa Labyrinth, which is a very tricky section, I @~was promised some detailed info on it when it was solved. So, @~here it is, together with some help on the final fight of the @~game and some general tips. 1. The Medusa Labyrinth As promised, here is an update on the EOB2 solution. The tricky bit is on the Azure Tower level 4, the Medusa Labyrinth. Here is a plaque which reads "Trap the ladies to weigh the plates". There are four pressure plates at a kind of crossroads and each of the plates needs to be weighed down by a trapped Medusa for the exit door to open (make sure you close the entrance door behind you to avoid confusion when trying to leave in a hurry!) Make sure you have San Raal, whose bones can be found in one of the cells two levels down from the entrance (reincarnate him in the chamber on the ground floor) and Amber, who is one level up from the entrance and must also be reincarnated. These two are Mages and have the ability to cast Hold Person spells, rather than Hold Monster spells. If you cast Hold Person at the Medusae, they will stay held and won't open their doors even when the spells have worn off. It is only necessary to close three of the doors, then when the fourth Medusa is held on the southern plate, just run for the exit door, which will now be open. 2. The End Game As for the Medusa (the final monster - Sue) he is the worst monster yet. Just one blow from him, accompanied by a harsh screaming noise and all the party members die quickly. The Medusa is a floating skull and when he screams, snakes pop out of holes in his head. He inhabits quite a large room and on his own would be more than enough to cope with, at least you could run away, but other monsters surround you too, so that often you are being attacked on three sides and can't move. You are supposed to box him into a corner with create wall spells, but that isn't the doddle it may seem either. Anyway, by studying the map book I managed to collect all three Mirror Keys (of course, you need to go to great lengths to get the keys which open the doors to actually GET to the Mirror Keys - and they are all in different rooms). Once the three Mirror Doors are open, then you can get the Mirror Shield and confront the Medusa. Just in time I thought to swap the Shield into the Fighter's action hand and not leave it in the usual shield hand so that when the Medusa struck, he was quickly dispatched. 3. General Help Invaluable features of the game are the teleport spell, that magic users over a certain level can use to teleport the party to any previously visited location on the level, also the instant co-ordinate read out, on the fighter's tablet, that tells you where the heck you are, with all the teleporting you wouldn't have a clue. - o -
