However, the solution @~refers to the maps, so if you want a copy of the disk, send me a @~blank disk and stamp and I'll send a copy back by return of @~post. @~Continued from Issue 31 LEVEL 5 1 Stairs up to Level 4 2 The empty grave of Garamon. 3 A broken hilt which matches the blade you found on Level 3. Take them to Shak sometime and he will make the Sword of Justice for 20 coins. 4 LAHN - mantra for Lore. You need a lot. 5 Secret door to the tomb of Sir Cabirus. 6 Secret door to Tombs of the Abyss. 7 The ghouls! Marrowsuck the tailor. Give him your dragon scales and the spider thread you found on Level 1 and he will make you some boots. Pay him with food. 8 Shanklick - solve his problem (dinner party) then he will tell you about the mad wizard. 9 Kneenibble. You will have to go fishing. He gives you the combination for the mine teleport later when you return with 10 fish. 10 Eyesnack the musician. He will teach you Cabirus' favourite tune if you have a flute. There will be a clue on Level 6 about where to play the tune. 11 J, G and N stones. Chant ROMM for traps. 12 In this tomb, look carefully behind the gravestone and find a gold coffer which contains a T stone. (Freeze time AT is very useful for fighting a lot of creatures at once, and golems) 13 Follow Derek's instructions (NW,SE,NE,SW and hug the walls while doing it) Find the Ring of Humility in the centre. 14 AAM - picklock. A flute. 15 Way down to Level 6. 16 MUL - sneak 17 Anjor - collect zanium for him. He will give you a huge nugget which you can take to Goldthirst sometime - he'll love it! 18 Shrine 19 Mine dispatch chamber. Numbers from left to right 7-2-6 open the door. 20 Teleport arrives here. 21 Teleports E-W 22 Teleport back to 19. 23 Judy would love a picture of her Tom. * Try out your new boots and fill in all the lava on the map. You can use the lava as a short-cut from Judy back to the Ghouls if you haven't finished with them yet. 24 ACM spell to smite undead. 25 This area can only be reached from Level 7. LEVEL 6 Another big level. Probably the best way to tackle it is to speak to the Seers first, then as you explore the rest of the level you will know what you are looking for. 1 Stairs up to Level 5. 2 The shrine. 3 The Seers. Shenilor gives you directions to the Library. 4 Dominus will identify objects for a price (you can do your own!) 5 Gralwart - take notes here to find the V stone. 6 Fyrgen tells you about incense. 7 Delanrey - Zak up to his tricks again! 8 Bronus gives you a book for Morlock. 9 Ranthru wants you to find a book for him. 10 Morlock. Give him the book from Bronus and tell the truth, he will tell you how to find the Book of Honesty. 11 Louvnon tells you of three-part mantras (the three groups of two letters you obtained by burning incense). Arrange these in order of the pictures round the goblets - morning, noon and night - and you get INSAHN. Chant this at a shrine and you will get directions to the Cup of Wonder (later). 12 Illomo wants news of his friend Gurstang who went below. 13 Dr Owl. Because you freed Murgo from the Lizardmen, he gives you directions to the Wine of Compassion. Ask him about runestones, give him your bag when he asks to see it and he will give you F. (SF for fire-shield is vital and FP for flame wind is useful) 14 Shoot an arrow (or magic missile) between the two Seers' emblems, then walk through the wall/teleport. 15 You arrive here from (14). Follow Gralwart's instructions to get the V stone. (I used PK to place the emeralds on the platforms) Press grey button to get V, pink button back to 14. 16 The Library 17 Secret door. Chant SOL for casting. H This is the 'hourglass' Morlock mentioned (look at shape on your map) Most of the worms here are mellow, but some are not. Try to fight them in the passage - if you hit one of the mellow ones by mistake, the whole lot will turn on you! 18 Secret door below the hourglass. I had to use PK to get across to 19. 19 The key (again shape on your map). Find the Book of Honesty. 20 USE pole on the switch. USE scroll of telekinesis to get the two potions. The scroll here is gate travel - use it when you are ready to go back to Level 2 (with the Sword of Justice for Shak to repair and Anjor's gold nugget for Goldthirst?) 21 The talking door. He gives you VOG for sheet lightning, if you dare ask for it! Look carefully behind the barrel and you will find an E stone. * If you hit a bug here, go away and do something else and return later. 22 Identify the ruby you find here. It restores mana - keep it for Level 7 where it will be very useful. While you are here you could walk on the lava to fill in this corner of the map. 23 Nilpont - Are you looking for a golem to fight? 24 Stairs down to Level 7. 25 Go for another lava walk, but cast SF first. You will meet a fire elemental here - fight them just like any other monsters. As long as you have a fire shield you can defeat them. 26 Secret door. F and N stones. 27 The checkerboard room. USE the south-east corner stone to find the Wine of Compassion (clue from Dr Owl). 28 You find here a book "On the Properties of Runestones" which Ranthru wanted. When you take it to him he will reward you by advancing your casting points. * I decided at this point to go looking for the Cup of Wonder. You need to chant INSAHN at the shrine on each level and take a note of the directions until you find the right place to play the flute tune you learnt from Eyesnack. (The place is on Level 3 No.8 - stand on the little platform, play the tune and something "wonderful" will happen when you press Esc. at the end of the tune) * You could try gate travel and arrive at M on Level 2. Walk through the East wall to get out of the room. You can take the moonstone and place it anywhere you want, and gate travel will instantly take you there. 29 The golem. Make sure you are in full health and have a heal spell ready. He hits hard but moves slowly. Speak to him before you jump across (you could leave all your heavy bags). He will give you the Shield of Valour when you defeat him. 30 The Domain of Vilus you were warned about by Ranthru. 31 An anvil if you want to try repairs. 32 This area is a rabbit-warren of leaps and pathways. Just fill in the map. There are a few monsters and a few things to find. 33 K stone. 34 IMU - mantra for mana. * If you have been back to Shak for the Sword of Justice, you should now have all 8 Talismans. They are heavy to carry - I left them at the bottom of the stairs down to Level 7 until I needed them. @~To be continued next issue - o -
