Grandad II - on SynTax PD (Graphic adventure for ST) Reviewed by Fred Darlington Grandad II is the follow up to the first Grandad game. in this game you play a rather grumpy old gentleman who decides one day to visit the local park and visit the Funland Complex. So he climbs aboard his three-wheeled motor bike and off he goes. Unfortunately when he is in the park, he starts to feel hungry and he finds that he has lost his sandwiches. Your task is to help Grandad find his sandwiches. The game is written in STOS basic and requires 1 megabyte of memory. It has the colourful, well drawn graphics seen in the first Grandad game. Sound is a little sparse apart from the noise of Grandad's motor bike. Control of the game is either with the joystick or by the keyboard and the spacebar. Grandad II is a well written game with a nice touch of humour. If you try reading the graffiti in the toilets, you will see what I mean. The problems are similar to the Grandad I game, and are mostly of the kind where you have to find an item in one location to help you to solve a problem in another location. In that aspect the are similar to the first Grandad game but I found the problems in Grandad II somewhat harder than the first game. Grandad is a shareware game and as such you can move around the park part of the game freely. But if you want to enter the Funland part of the game you will have to register with the author. I think anyone who has enjoyed playing Grandad I will enjoy Grandad II. If you have not come across either game before, it is well worth buying. - o -
