A Strange Experience in Lands of Lore by Steve McLaren Here I am, hacking and slaying the many creatures in Lands of Lore and sorting out what needs to be done,. The first time I played this game I had no bother with it at all, then a friend of mine was talking about his problem in the lands. It seems to happen on Level 3 of the Castle in the SE corner after you have gone through a door and walked round to a sign which says "The Sums Must Be Correct", there should be a passage to your right but, as it happens, this part was blocked off and I said that I did not encounter this problem at all. Well, I decided to replay this game as it is so brilliant and to see what I could do different. So everything is going alright, hacking and slaying, getting through the puzzles, right on to Level 3 in the Castle. Ah yes, a big, horrible Gremlin has got in the works or Nogwidget has struck. I first noticed my crossbow would not fire after about 3 moves. Strange, I thought. So I progressed, touched a button, the wall disappeared to leave a giant Toad face to face, but he decided to jump backwards, even stranger. Now I have come across this problem where the sign says "The Sums Must Be Correct" - correct, there was no passage to the right. I could not understand this at all since I played the game all the way through. Now my friend said that if you restore a game much before Level 3, the passage will show up. Well, I restored, and I restored. I was determined to get that wall open. It took me 6 hours before that passage appeared. How's that for perseverance? Has anyone else had this problem apart from me and Bill Commons? If so, can anyone throw some light on this problem and why it should do this? @~The annoying thing with a bug like this is that you have to KNOW @~that something has gone wrong. If Steve hadn't played the game @~before, or been warned about the possibility of the problem, he @~wouldn't have known that a passage should be there! ... Sue - o -
