Ravenloft - SSI Solution by Alex van Kaam This solution is played with a Human Paladin and a Human Cleric, Also step movement is set to OFF otherwise you can't enter certain places. Also thanks to Sue Medley and Maureen Barton for their help. ----> Forgotten Realms Forest, Kill the Assassin and get the following items, Lord Dhelt's Holy Symbol, Withered Heart Of Mortal Ardor, A Parchment, read it and you will see that the Assassin needed the Holy Symbol to destroy an evil Count by the name of Strahd in the lands of Ravenloft, get the Finger and you will see some strange mist, when it is gone you will find yourself in... ----> Svalich Woods, Three of the four items you found on the Assassin are gone, you only have the Parchment left, go straight west into the abandoned house, here you will find a scroll, read it, a body, a button on the south wall and a door in the floor, push the button to open the door and go down. Open the two doors you see with the button on the wall that is near them, get all the items you need and go back up. Use this cellar as a resting place, now leave the house and head south, this will bring you to a Goblin camp, kill them all and free the man that they captured, his name is Fhalken and he is a level 5 Fighter, he will join you if you want to, if you don't want him to join you he will head back to his house in Barovia. This will happen with all the persons you dismiss from your party so you can always find them in Barovia if you need them. Get Fhalken's stuff and head back to the house, then go west and you will soon see a man standing near a tree, talk to him and you will find out that he is looking for his son, people think his son is dead but he doesn't believe that, he will also tell you that there is a road nearby that will lead to Barovia. Go south and you will find some Goblins protecting some items, kill them and get what you need, now keep heading west until you come to... ----> Old Svalich Road South, This road is infested with Brigands so look out, going south will bring you to a large wooden gate, you can't open it so keep heading north until you see three Brigands approaching you, one of your players will tell you that it is a trap, kill them all and as you try to kill the last one he will surrender to you, let him go and he will tell you were their hideout is. Keep going north until you meet a Vistani, he sells a potion that will help you get through the mist, since you don't have any coins you can't buy it, he will tell you that he will be waiting in the tavern in Barovia, also notice that he likes Count Strahd. Further north you will find the hideout of the Brigands, pull the lever and you can go east, kill them all and get what you need. (if you have step movement on you can't enter here !!) Leave the hideout and go north, you will soon encounter Velika, she is a level 4 Fighter, a level 4 Mage and a level 5 Thief, she will join you if you want to. Anyway, keep heading north and you will come to... ---> Barovia, Go to the north/west of this city and enter the great house that is there, this is the house of the Burgermaster, find him and talk to him, he will tell you that he has a invitation from the Count, ask further and he will bring you to a carriage that is waiting for you, it will bring you to... ----> Castle Ravenloft, You can enter only one room, here you will find Count Strahd von Zarovich, he will tell you about a portal that could be a way out of here, he will also give you a key, after this you will be returned to... ----> Barovia, Head west until you come to the west wall of the city, here there is an exit that will lead to... ----> Wooded Area West Of Barovia, In this area you will find a house, inside lives Ryszand the Wizard, you can let him join you if you want to. You will also find two cave entrances, near one of then you will see a female Cleric by the name of Irmgarde, you will need her so take her into your party and enter the cave... ----> Caverns West Of Barovia, Use the key you got from the count to open the door, behind it you will find Vladislav, a level 7 Fighter, the only way to get past him is to let him join you, so drop another player, not Irmgarde because you will need her, and don't worry the players will tell you where you can find them if you need them again. These caverns are very very large with many transporters and doors that need either a key or have a rope nearby that will open them. Keep exploring until you have covered every area and you have found 4 Jade Keys, a Church Vestibule Key and lots of scrolls like Cure Disease, in the end you will come to a door that only Irmgarde will/can open, walk through two illusionary walls and you will see a portal, enter it and you will be transported to... (note: there is one area in the middle I couldn't enter it, has two doors but I don't seem to be able to open them ?!) ----> Wooded Area west Of Barovia, Irmgarde and Vladislav will vanish here, get their stuff and head back to... ----> Barovia, Now explore the whole city, inside the Burgermaster's house you will find a book called 'Guide to Werebeast', and Glorianna, an elven Mage, I let her join my party and I scribed all the mage scrolls I had into her spellbook. If you read the book you will know that you need three scrolls to cure a werebeast, Cure Disease, Remove Curse and Atonement. In the Tavern you will find the Vistani, talk to him and he will take you to his camp, here you will find that the count has one of the cards of the Vistani, you will then be taken back to the tavern. In the other houses you will find Fhalken, Velika and Titian, a level 4 Fighter, take Fhalken back into your party, you now should have two fighters, a mage and a cleric. You will also encounter two quests, one with a paladin and one with a ghost, DO NOT yet enter the house with the ghost. (So save often) You will also meet a strange old woman, listen carefully to her, and in all the other houses you may find some items you can use. In one house you will find a trap door which can only be opened from the other side as one of your party members will tell you and in another house you will find a door locked with a red lock. After exploring the whole town go to the old paladin, he will give you his Eye-Patch, then go to the wooden house east of where you met him, here you will find a Footman's Pick, now go to the north/east corner of the city, here you will see a tree stump, use the Footman's Pick west of it and you will find a Paladin's Key, now use the Eye-Patch and your map to locate the house that is marked on the Eye-Patch, go in and push the button on the wall, you can now descend into... ----> Lesser Catacombs Beneath Barovia, This is a nice hack and slash level, explore it completely and get the Silver Star Key from the room with the illusionary wall in the middle of this level, if you have an elf in your party (Glorianna) she will warn you when you are near such a wall. Also look out for the Living Walls, they do grab your weapons, it doesn't happen often but it does happen. With the Silver Star Key you can get the Silver Moon Key and with this key you can get the Winged Holy Symbol, now return to the city... ----> Barovia, Return the Winged Holy Symbol to the old paladin, in return he will open a secret room in the house, here you will find some armor, a Paladin's Sword and a Paladin's Dagger, get what you need and leave the house. Now go to the north city wall and exit through the gate that lies the furthest east... ----> Old Church Grounds, Head straight for the Church and enter it... ----> Old Church Main floor, Explore this whole area and you will find a priest turned into stone, a mirror with a priest trapped in it, a scroll that will tell you what you need for the Instruction of Timia's catalogue (a gem, a elven item, a feather of a wereraven, the 'mist' card and a symbol of truth), a book called the Tome of Evil Artifacts which will tell you how to free the trapped priest, but a page is missing, and another holy symbol. If you still have a Wand of Frost use it against the Hell Hounds. There are two doors that are locked, look at the stones in the room and you will find a button to open them, now go down the stairs... ----> Old Church lower Level 1, This is a large area with lots of doors and also a few illusionary walls. In the north you will find, after going through a few illusionary walls, an old door. You don't have the key yet so just leave it alone. In the south/east you will also find some illusionary walls, they will lead you to a corridor with a sun at the end, pushing the second button on the south wall here will open the door. Then there is a room, in the east, with two door you can't open, search the east wall for a button to open both doors. In the end you should have found; a Gold Church Key, a Paladin and a Cleric's Holy Symbol, a Key Ring, Richten's Tale Of Strahd, Trimia's Catalogue, Scroll of Atonement, 4 pieces that form the last page of the book you found on how to free the priest, a Rod of Smithing and some bones. Put the 4 pieces of paper in the book and go up... ----> Old Church Main Floor, Go to the mirror and read the book, the mirror will crack, now go to the priest in the main hall and he well be alive, talk to him and he will tell you that the bones are from his assistant and he will give you the key to the cemetery, now leave the church and go back to Barovia... ----> Barovia, Enter the house with the spirit, your first character will get possessed, get the key to Victor Grymig's tomb and go back to the Old Church Grounds... ----> Old Church Grounds, Go to the north/east and use the Cemetery Key on the doors, go through into... ----> Cemetery Grounds, Search all the tombs until you found the one of Victor, kill him, when you leave the spirit will give you a key and he will leave. Now go back to the house where you got possessed, use the key and get the Gem, item one for the catalogue. Now go back to the Cemetery and kill everything and explore every tomb (using a fireball on the Vampires will make sure that you don't lose too many levels fighting them.) In the end you will have found: a Key Ring, Scroll of Cure Disease, Rod of Rebirth, some armor, rings and weapons, two bags of Golden Dust (one in Victor's tomb, the other near the east wall) and a elven tomb. Inside is a very strong Banshee, to get past her do the following: put a bag of gold in your character's hand and use it on the right statue, get her blessings and do the same on the left statue, after you got her blessings you can enter and the Banshee will be gone. Go down the stairs into... ----> Elven Warrior's Crypt Lower Level 1, Near the entrance you will find the spirit of an Elven warrior, if you will return his family signet he will be very grateful. This is a large area with lots of buttons on the walls, push them all, most of them will open doors near them but other will open doors in other areas. In the end you will come to a large area with five closed doors, one of these doors can be opened by a key, two can be opened by pushing buttons in this area and the last two you can only open by entering the area behind the two open doors, push all buttons you can find and in the end you will find the Iron Elven Tomb Key. As for monsters, look out for the Wights, they drain levels, as for the Pyre Elementals, I used the haste spell and gave my best warrior the Rod of Smithing, then just charge. With the Iron Elven Tomb Key open the locked door (four Wights behind it) and climb down to... ----> Elven Warrior Crypt Lower Level 2, Your goal on this floor is to get through 7 doors, starting with the one north of your entering place to this level. Search this complete floor and you will find seven buttons and a Green Elven Tomb Key, pushing the buttons will open the seven doors and you need the key at the end of these seven doors to enter a room where you will find the Elven Signet. Most buttons are easy to find, explore every corridor, in the south/west you will be transported to a room in the south/east, each wall that has a flag with a sword on it is an illusionary wall in this room. As for the monsters, the Pyre Elemental is on this level as are a lot of Spectres, look out for them since they also (yes again) drain levels, fire balls have a lot of effect on them.... In the end you will have found: Stone of Good Luck, Elven Signet, Green Elven Tomb Key, Elven Chain Mail, Elven Chain Helm and some other small stuff. Take the Signet up to the Elven Warrior and he will be set free, in return he will give you : Ancient Elven Sword, Ancient Elven Shield, Ancient Elven Plate Mail, Ancient Elven Plate Helmet and a Ancient Elven Crown which is item two for the Catalogue, take it all and leave. Now return to the Old Church Lower Level 1... ----> Old Church lower Level 1, Find the pile of bones and use the Rod of Rebirth, before you will appear a young priest called Misha, listen to his story and get the key to Stradh's Castle Now return to Barovia and go north onto... ----> Old Svalich Road North, Just battle your way north until you reach the castle gate, open it and enter into... ----> Castle Ravenloft, This castle is very confusing, with lots of stairs up and down levels, just explore everything and search all the walls for buttons (in the bat's head) and walk through walls. Mark every staircase on your map, and when you used it mark it again, this keeps you from running up and down the same stairs after a while. The Doom Guards aren't as tough as they look but do look out for the Zombie Golems. Keep at it and in the end you will find: Ravenloft Tower key, Ravenloft Silver Tower key, Bloodbat Key (in the corridor with the lighting spells and the buttons on one side), and a lot of small items. With the Ravenloft Tower key you can enter a tower, here you will eventually find a Wereraven, free him and he will tell you to go and see Bray Martikova (he is the innkeeper at the tavern) and he will give you a feather which is item three for your Catalogue. With the Ravenloft Silver Tower key you can enter another tower, here you will find Anshelm, free him and if you wish he will join you. With the last key, the Bloodbat key, you can enter into the dungeon, (on the Rooms of Weeping level you will find a wall with bookshelves that can be opened with a button nearby) do not enter yet, instead get the Vistani Card that is in front of the staircase which is the fourth item for your Catalogue and leave the castle. Go back to Barovia... ----> Barovia, Go to the Tavern and talk to the innkeeper, he will tell you to go to an old warehouse called 'Merchant's Pride', find it and enter. Here you will meet a warrior, talk to him and he will take you to his leader, after taking his sleeping potion you will wake up in... ----> Greater Catacombs Beneath Barovia, In front of you will stand the Ravenlord, he will tell you that you need the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind to defeat Strahd, to help you find it he will give you the Forgotten Church Key, a Reading Glass and a Ruby Catacomb Key, listen very carefully to him and when he is gone you have to fight your way out of this place. This is a huge level, there are two walk through walls in the south/east and some buttons that remove walls in the middle, the whole level is filled with rooms and corridors so there are no blank spots on the map. In the end you will find the exit back into Barovia and a lot of items like the Ring of Fire Resistance, the Ring of Protection, Admanitite armor, Shield of Lightning Protection, Onyx Catacomb Key, Emerald Catacomb Key, Sapphire Catacomb Key and 15 Gold Coins. When you got all these items go into Barovia and go to the old church, go to the door on the lower level 1 and open it with the Forgotten Church Key, now go down the stairs into... ----> Old Church Lower Level 2, Search this area and you will find a Gold Teardrop Church Key, Gauntlets of Dexterity and three of Sasha's Lost Manuscripts. Use the reading glass you got from the Ravenlord to read two of the manuscripts. Leave the church and go to the tavern in Barovia, buy the potion from the Vistani, by now you should also have these 3 scrolls: special scroll of Atonement, special scroll of Cure disease and the special scroll of remove curse, if you do have these go to the wooden area west of Barovia... ----> Wooden Area West Of Barovia, Wait until night and look behind the house of the wizard, here you will encounter an Albino Werewolf, kill him and enter the cave in the north/west... ----> Werewolf's Cave, Here you will find a Werewolf, put the three scrolls in your player's hand and cast them, starting with Atonement, then Cure Disease and then Remove Curse, the Werewolf will change to a human, he will give you a red key, use it on the house in Barovia with the red lock, get what you need and then go to the Old Church Grounds, use the potion and enter the fog to go to... ----> The Undead Forest, Here you must find 4 Seeds of the Morning Lord, at first you will only find two, now enter the transporter near the east edge and you will be transported to an exact duplicate of the first Undead Forest, here you will find the other two, now place all four of the seeds in the four small circles of stone which are in the large stone circle in the middle of this area, as you will see this stone circle has a oak tree in the middle, the stone circle in the first Undead Forest didn't. After placing the seed in the four circle you will receive the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind, now re-enter the fog and go to castle Ravenloft, now go to the dungeon entrance and descend into... ----> Castle Ravenloft Dungeon, Explore this area completely and in the end you will come to a large area with lots of rooms and three stairs down, first go down the north one, push the button then go back up and down the east one, again push the button you find here and go up, a door will open to a room in the middle of the area, enter and you will be transported to the south staircase, go down and confront Strahd. Be quick and move fast and use the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind on him, in the end you will defeat him ... Now get Lord Dhelt's holy symbol and use the Catalogue...... Congratulations, you have done it.
