@~Two solutions have been sent in for Companions of Xanth, from @~Dave Stone and Phil Darke. Both will be started this issue. @~Dave's solution for the floppy version is in this file and @~Phil's for the CD-ROM is in the next. Companions of Xanth - Part 1 1. Solution by Dave Stone Part 1 - At home Read the letter -> West. Answer the phone, agree to play Ed's game. ->West, open fridge and get Mustard. -> East, open door, get package. -> East. Open package & put disc in drive. Close drive (someone is still using 5.25" discs). Flip the power switch. Save the game. Talk to Grundy and when ready make a selection. Only Nadia will help but try them all anyway. Restore and select Nadia. Part 2 - What's all this about then? Wear the glasses (and keep them on - they have no further function). Talk to Nadia - she identifies the correct door - open it and enter - meet your rivals. -> NE, pick red fruit. -> East, look in pool. -> East, talk to Headman. You learn that he can fashion wood, and that you need to get past the bouncing bucket to see Fairy Nuff. Pick up the Lamp Shades from the Gas Lamps. Unlock the gates with the big key, open them then -> North. Get the cloth & talk to Nadia, she gets the Rope and an Anchor - together they make a Grappling hook. -> South, NW, W then pry the Log from the logjam (in stream) with hook. Return to headman and give him the log. Ask for a flat board. Pick up the rock. Wait for the headman to return -> W. Put board on flat boulder, put rock on board. Ask Naga to operate catapult. -> NE, get bucket. NE, NE. Talk to the eye, eventually open screen & door. -> N, get the 'T'. -> N, get egg. -> NE, Ask Fairy for solution - there are 2 censors. Read the paper. Part 3 - Chemistry Time Go back to the eye scream. Get two pieces and put them in the bucket. Go back to spring. Ask Nada about bush - then ask for Cough Drops. Put them in the bucket. -> W to stream. Pick buttercup. Get butter & add to pail - then catch firefly with buttercup. Put firefly & egg in pail. Put the pail in the water 3 times then add the sailcloth - solution is mixed - go back to the fairy to get the solution put in the lamp covers. Return to ship to douse censers - then back to Fairy. Follow his advice -> NW and end up in THE VOID. @~To be continued next issue - o -
