Ishar 3: The Seven Gates of Infinity (Part 1) PC Solution by Alex van Kaam @~See also the hint and map files on Ishar 3 in the Hints Section. Credits go to Sue and James Jillians for their help and moral support, without them I definitely would have taken the disks and ... posted them to some foreign country, just to torture them, he, he, he. So thanks to both of you. This solution was made with the following party: 3 Paladins, 1 Wizard, and 1 Cleric Koren-Bahnir As soon as you start the game you will see a man a few steps to the north, approach him and he will tell you to see Typhus Merrith the astronomer and ask him about the great conjunction, he will also tell you that Typhus likes Lime liquor. Typhus lives in the rich (inner) part of the city, to enter you will need 4000 Gp. The best thing to do is buy your pass to enter the rich part, you can get the pass at the entrance of the inner city, now you can reach all the shops and stores, however before starting on your quest it is best to equip your party. So search the whole city and you will encounter lots of thieves of which some are protecting a chest with 10000 Gp., just keep moving around the city, the thieves will re-appear, not with their chest of gold but still with enough gold on them. Keep fighting the thieves and resting and each time you have enough gold to buy a weapon or piece of armour do so, but make sure you buy from the cheapest shop. I kept doing this until all the my paladins had a heavy helmet, a heavy armour, a heavy shield and a fire sword. This made life a lot easier and after a few more rounds I could buy my wizard a chain mail, a heavy shield, a heavy helmet and also a fire sword, and for my cleric I bought a chain mail, a heavy helmet, a heavy shield and a morning star. Now with the money you have left buy some food and a bottle of Lime liquor, look at your map and go to Typhus' house, after his first reaction give him the liquor and he will give you a card and he will tell you to visit Mather Fudius, Typhus will mark his house on your map. Leave Typhus and go to the house of Fudius in the south/east corner of the city, you will not be able to enter but you will find a letter from Fudius' help who is called Erkh Moltus, read the letter and go to the Silver Wolf just north of Fuidius his house. Listen and you will be approached by Erkh, buy him a meal and he will escort you into Fudius' house. Once there don't leave, instead give Fudius the card and he will tell you about the great prophecy and the next conjunction. A time gate will appear in his house so wait until it arrives, enter the gate and you will be transported to an area 73 years ago. -73 This forest area is full of giant wasps and other flying creatures, explore the whole area very carefully and you will encounter a large bear guarding the east area of the forest, kill him and enter the east part, here you will find a racoon who holds a letter, take the letter and read it. It seems that this racoon is Greem Dahilim a wizard, leave him for the moment and search the rest of the forest, take the 6 mushrooms you find and head back to the transporter gate, enter it and you will re-appear at Fudius' house. Koren-Bahnir Give Fudius the scroll you got from the racoon and in return Fudius will give you the key to the locked house in the south/east of the city, he will also tell you that you need 2 parts of Dried Mistletoe, 2 part of Salamander Oil, 1 part of Rat Brain and 1 part of Kelonia Powder. Leave Fudius and go to the locked house, on your way to it buy the reagents from the shop, you should be able to buy all of them except for the Kelonia Powder. Enter the locked house and get the flask and the pendant, wear this pendant and enter the tavern called The Big Troffer, it is north/east of the house, here you will now get the Kelonia Powder. Put all the ingredients into the flask and go back to Fudius' house, enter the portal to get back into the forest. -73 Go to the racoon and give him the flask, he will now change back into a human called Greem Dahilim, he will give you an item and he will then disappear. Head back to the portal and enter it to get back to Koren-Bahnir. Koren-Bahnir Make your way to the theatre, and enter around 21 hours, you will be greeted by the grandson of Greem Dahilim, give him the item to prove that you helped his grandfather 73 years ago, in return he will show you a new portal, but this portal will only appear between 2-3 o'clock, so leave the theatre, get some food and return to the theatre around 2. You will now see the second portal, enter it and you will be transported back 4322 years. -4322 This is a jungle area, your mission here is to find a great blue crystal and to kill the chief of a tribe that lives here. Both these things are easy to find, kill only the chief since the rest of the tribe pose no threat to you. The leopards you find and kill here leave a piece of skin behind, take this since you can sell it in Koren-Bahnir for a lot of gold, the first skin for 15000, the second for 14000 and so on. When you have killed the chief and got the crystal step back into the time portal and you go back to Koren-Bahnir. Koren-Bahnir Leaving the theatre square you will encounter the same person as in the beginning of the game, he will tell you that by killing the chief of that tribe you made sure that not his ancestors but others build this city, therefore some things may have changed, he also hints about the library and then leaves you. Go to the library and you will hear of a letter that Jon the Wizard wrote just before he died, it is a strange letter so read it carefully. Next explore the whole city and you will find some changes, 1 - in the north/west of the city is now a complete new part added to the city. 2 - in the open area east of the theatre is also a new part added, this looks like a park with a strange rock at the north edge. 3 - an area just north/east from your original starting point is gone. In some places there are also some new chests with gold, so it is worth exploring this 'new' city. After all this go back to the theatre and enter it around 2 o'clock, step into the portal and you will be transported back to the jungle but this time 3725 years into the future. +3725 This area is almost the same as the first except the area where you killed the chief is gone and a new large area in the east is added. All you have to do here is to get the Living Chaos Sword, it is near the spot where you found the crystal and you have to get a piece of rock, this is in the middle of the jungle, get both and leave through the portal back to Koren-Bahnir. Koren-Bahnir Go to a local shop and buy 5 pieces of rope, tie them to your party member and go to a shop where they sell furs, buy five of these and put them on, if you don't have enough cash you first have to go through the city for a while and kill enough bandits until you have enough gold, now go to the new park east of the theatre, put the piece of rock onto the large boulder and a portal will appear, enter it and you will be transported 1432 years back. @~To be continued next issue - o -
