Eye of the Beholder Trilogy - SSI RRP œ45.99 Hints by MerC This is not a solution (Ron Rainbird and Alex van Kaam have already said the last words in that department) but here are a few tips. 1. Fight monsters in a four square area, so you can dodge. 2. In EoB l, the skeletal warriors in the catacombs can be a nuisance. Do not retreat back to the fireball trap to deal with them. In the first place, they are not particularly susceptible to spells, but more to the point, they regenerate indefinitely. Instead, when you step into a passage shortly after the trap, a group approaches from the right. Kill them there and use their room as your base. Continue through the black-key door, then lure small groups of the antagonists back to your room. Nip behind and close the door. Dodge and kill. Rest. Repeat until clear. 3. Do not accept the imprisoned dwarf into your party in EoB ll. 4. When accepting the Challenge in EoB ll, ensure that all magic items (including ankhs) have been dropped. Ready spells first, though - you're going to need them. You probably won't be able to kill all the bulettes when teleported - fight to the N wall instead. The correct room to be teleported to has no alcoves. 5. Transferring from game to game you only retain your party's first four characters. Stuff them as full of items as you can. They will lose many of them (e.g. powerful or irrelevant ones) but some others seem to be removed on a random basis. You will need a couple of decent axes at the very start of lll. 6. Always keep San-Raal. Amber is also useful. 7. Going up levels is rather slow, especially for multi-class characters. Killing Drann in ll really ought to boost the party and ready them for the next game, but it doesn't. Nevertheless, you will need a strong party at the end of ll and throughout lll. Build up wisely. You can cheat in ll, and transfer to lll, but you need a hex editor. - o -
