THREE AMIGA GAMES Zenobi Amiga PD disk œ1.49 Reviewed by: Philip Richmond When you boot the disk you get the option of playing:- INSECTOIDS, POING or PONG. All three are variants of original classic arcade games. 'Insectoids' is a rather nifty version of 'Galaxians', where you use the joystick to blast away at alien attack waves which swoop down, firing deadly missiles at your ship, which can move L/R across the bottom of the screen. Gfx and Sfx are good. There are sections where you have to dodge asteroids. Your reflexes need to be up to scratch as you only get 3 lives. Blast away! 'Poing' is a neat 'Breakout' clone and can get addictive. Using the mouse to control your bat/paddle you must bounce the ball (which travels at differing speeds) at coloured bricks/tiles of various patterns and shapes in order to demolish them and break through. This gains you extra points and bonuses. There are a number of stages to complete in each level. Good eye/hand coordination is essential as you are limited to 3 lives. A fun game. 'Pong' is a souped up version of the famous original bat and ball video game. There are options for adjusting bat size, goalmouth size and background colours. It's for 1 or 2 players and you can play with 2 or 4 bats. Mouse/keyboard operated. A well presented tribute to a much loved golden oldie and great for all you nostalgia fans! All three are competent renditions of hit games from a bygone era. Nothing new, of course, but they still retain appeal. OK for passing a spare half-hour or for something to do when you get stuck in your latest adventure. @~Contact Zenobi at 26 Spotland Tops, Cutgate, Rochdale, Lancs, @~OL12 7NX - o -
