Might and Magic V/Darkside of Xeen - Part 13 Solution by Alex van Kaam @~Continued from last issue -----------> The sewers of the gods <----------- We entered in a small corridor leading north, at the end we were asked what is the password, we didn't know so the only thing left to do was leave. We headed back up into the tavern, we left it and we headed to the grating near the east wall of the city, we descended down the grating and we came in another corridor. Here we found a scroll saying : 'Cyrano sells the password', and two notes in the sewer drain, on the first was written: 'IB' on the second: 'BL'. This was all we could find here so we went back up and we headed to the grating near the west city wall, we climbed down and we came into another corridor with a scroll, two sewer drains and a door. We first read the scroll, it said: 'Search the drains', when we searched them we found two more notes, written on them was: 'ES' and 'TR'. The only thing left to do was enter through the door, behind it we found Cyrano, he offered to sell us a furry creature, it looked quit nice so we paid him 100.000 Gp. and we got a Tribble. We left and we went to the tavern, we climbed down the grating and we headed to the spot where we were asked the password, when we replied 'Tribble', the north wall was removed and we could continue. At the end of this corridor we found a ladder leading up, we took it and we came in a corridor of the city which we could not reach from the city. At the end of this corridor we found the Soulbox, we took it and we went to the training school, we all trained a few levels, it got very expensive, until we had about 700.000 Gp. left and we were all on level 66. I cast Town Portal to bring us to Necropolis and from there we went to the spaceship of Corak. He was very pleased to see us with the Soulbox, he told us that we now had to reach Alamar and then throw the Soulbox towards him, Corak would then take care of the rest. We agreed and we headed to castle Alamar, we killed some Lava Dwellers and we soon reached the castle. There was no guard so we entered.... -----------> Castle Alamar level 1 <----------- We entered in a small room with an exit to the west, we took it and we came to a crossroad, we could go north, west, south or east back to the exit. We decided to go south, since Rak*el couldn't open the gate Roodhaar used Etherealize to get us passed, we were now in a long corridor with a staircase leading down, we took it and we found ourselves in ....... -----------> The dungeon of Castle Alamar <----------- We started in a long corridor, with a few gates and a lot of Annihilators and a few Autobots, this were strange creatures, they were not alive but they did move, some kind of a machine, that could think and move on its own. Well what ever it was, we killed them all, we had no protection against their weapons but the Divine Intervention spell made up for that. The gates we couldn't open so Roodhaar cast us beyond them, near the end of the long corridor we found some flasks of Xeen Power Juice, I drank first and I gained 5 levels permanent, we all took turns, but when it was Gandalf's turn the flasks were empty, if we found any others he would be the first to drink from them. At the end of the corridor we found a small room with a statue and a small corridor to the south, on the statue we read: 'Nine is the Time'. In the small corridor we found two levers, pulling them removed some walls, we could now leave the room with the statue through a new exit in the south/west. This exit led to a large hall, with a staircase leading down in the south/west, a door leading north in the north/west and a small room in the north/east. We first took the small room, here we found a key to the Dragon Tower, it was of no use now, since the Dragon Tower was on the other side of Xeen. We also saw a skull, when we approached is said: 'Access Denied, not the proper ID'. We left this room and we went to the door, beyond this door we encountered a lot of Annihilators and Autobots, we killed them all and we found two statues, the first said something about Alamar being a great sport and leaving clues for his opponents, but none of them have yet defeated him. On the other statue however we found the following: 'FEWAEEFFWAEFAWEEWWEFAW' 'A=Air E=Earth F=Fire W=Water' We wrote it all down and we left, we then headed to the staircase, we descended and we entered SHANGRI-LA, this was some kind of magical place, looking at the walls we could see that these were made out of the same material as the Dwarven mines. This meant that we were now on the Cloud side of Xeen, we agreed to go back here if we ever defeated Sheltem, but until then we had nothing lost here, so we left, but not before drinking from the well and that gave us +1 level. Back in the dungeon of castle Alamar we headed up to... -----------> Castle Alamar level 1 <----------- We headed back to the crossroad and this time we went beyond the north gate, we were immediately attacked by some Annihilators, we killed them all and we examined the area. We found nothing of interest so we headed back to the crossroad and we went beyond the west gate. Here we first saw two statues, after examining them we saw that they were dedicated to the honor of Alamar. We left the statues and we examined the rest of this area, first we found some stairs leading up to the next floor, we left these alone and we examined the statues that were near it. To the north and south we found four heads near four areas of air, water, earth and fire, when we examined these heads we got the message: 'fire/water/earth/air power field operational', we didn't knew what to do with these four heads so we left and we headed up the stairs to.... -----------> Castle Alamar level 2 <----------- This was a large hall with air, water, fire and earth lines in the middle, however in the middle of these lines there was this large head. On the east side of this area we found a staircase leading up, when we tried to climb it we got the message: 'Access denied'. In each corner of this room we found a sundial, one for each element. It seemed we had to reach the head to get access to level 3, but how...... Stepping on the elements dropped us down to level 1, so that wasn't the answer..... Then Gothmog had an idea, if Sheltem had something with the number 9, why not set all the dials on 9? We all agreed. When we turned the last dial to 9 a path appeared leading straight to the head, once there we were asked what the real name of Alamar was, we answered Sheltem and we got the message: 'Access approved'. We then headed to the staircase and up to.... ------> Castle Alamar level 3, Sheltem here we come <------ This room was again full of earth, fire, water and air elements, some we could step on, others we fell through. The letters we found on the statue in the dungeon led us straight to a room, we also tried a route ourselves and that led to a flask of Xeen Power Juice, Gandalf drank from it and we headed back to the room that the first route led us to. We slowly entered, somehow we knew we were close, after a few steps a voice shouted 'COME TO ME'...... We headed north, through two doors until we were in the same room with SHELTEM, I knew what I had to do, I took the Soulbox and I hurled it towards him..... The box opened and CORAK appeared, SHELTEM was surprised, CORAK said to him 'You have nowhere to run', SHELTEM answered 'Neither have you', he laughed. While he was laughing he removed his mask, underneath it was his face, or what was left of it, we didn't have much time to look at it as CORAK and SHELTEM started attacking each other. This was a battle of the titans, CORAK damaged SHELTEM, but SHELTEM was stronger, and just as we thought CORAK was defeated he cast his last spell via a mirror at the back of SHELTEM, SHELTEM was thrown towards CORAK who grabbed him, there was a little struggle and then CORAK started his self destruction, SHELTEM tried to run from CORAK but CORAK didn't let go of him......... Then a large explosion, both CORAK and SHELTEM were gone, all that was left was a large hole in the floor and ceiling..... We left, a bit sad about CORAK but pleased that SHELTEM was dead, we headed to the Dragon Pharaoh, he congratulated us on our success and he told us that we could now fulfil the prophecy..... How we did that, well that's another story, that someday I will tell you, but not now.......... @~The World of Xeen quests will follow next issue. - o -
