Menzoberranzan (Part 4) Solution by Alex van Kaam @~Continued from Issue 41 -----> Menzoberranzan, Tower of sorcery NPC: None Monsters: Myrlochars and Cloaker lords Items: Potion of giants strength, Potion of healing, Blue robe, Wand of fireball and the Scrolls of Venom bolt, Agannazer's scorcher and Flame arrow. To reach Jalyfein go through the green elevator, then at the crossing turn west and then south. Talk to Jalyfein and he will tell you that he will give the scroll you need to free Maznafein if you get him the music box sold by Galentha at the bazaar, so go to the bazaar. -----> Menzoberranzan, Merchant's bazaar NPC: None Monsters: None Items: None if you have taken them all the first time. Galentha's shop is located north of the entrance, enter and talk to him, he will give you the music box in return for the helm you got from the innkeeper at the village, refuse. He will now be willing to trade the music box for Tricinia's gauntlets that can be found in the north/east mantle cavern. Leave the bazaar and enter the n/e mantle cavern. -----> Menzoberranzan, Mantle cavern 1 NPC: None Monsters: Ropers, Driders, Drow priestesses and Drow fighters Items: Javelin of lightning, Plate mail, Shield, Long sword, Tricinia's gauntlets, Banded helm, Sack with 8 arrows, Red candle, Potion of extra healing and the Scrolls of Blade barrier, Death and Freezing sphere. This level is not very difficult, there are some transporters but they don't make it complex. The gauntlets can be found in the south, find a room with 2 driders, kill them and walk through the north wall, behind it you will find the gauntlets. Take them and go to Galentha, give him the gauntlets and he will give you the music box, now leave the shop. As soon as you are outside the shop your helmet is stolen, since you fail in catching the thief take the music box to Jalyfein, in return you will get a scroll. This scroll must be taken to the throne of house Baenre. so leave the tower of sorcery and enter the house of Baenre. -----> Menzoberranzan, House of Baenre NPC: None Monsters: None Items: None The scroll will protect you and you will automatically reach the throne, here you will release the spirit of Maznafein but at the same time your protection is gone. You will then overhear a conversation between the matron of house Baenre and the innkeeper of the village, it seems that he gave the helm to you so you would, without knowing, bring it to Menzoberranzan. The innkeeper then spots you and so does the matron, she sees no helm and when you tell her that is has been stolen she tells you to get it back, after that the innkeeper is killed and you are removed from the house. Go now to the bazaar, Ssar Tarell still owes you for freeing Maznafein. She will send you to Grumsznar, the wizard of house Fey Branche. So leave the Bazaar and go to house Fey Branche. -----> Menzoberranzan, House Fey Branche NPC: None Monsters: Yochol, Myrlochars, Night hunters and Drow priestesses. Items: None Grumsznar can be found in the south/east, talk to him and you will learn that the helmet that was stolen from you has some very powerful magic, and that house Do'Urden must not get the gem. Grumsznar will also tell you the name of Rizzen Do'Urden who now works for house Fey Branche, he can be found in one of the local taverns, he will give you the password to enter house Do'Urden if you mention sanctuary to him. As a final help Grumsznar will change you all into Drow so that you can enter house Do'Urden as a party of Drow fighters. Now leave house Fey Branche and go back to Ssar Tarell so that she can help you get into contact with Vermulean, because he probably knows which gem house Do'Urden is looking for. Vermulean will look at your gems and he will notice that one of the gems has the image of Lolth in it. Now leave and go to Carpathian's tavern. -----> Menzoberranzan, Carpathian's tavern NPC: None Monsters: None Items: None You will find Rizzen in the back room, talk to him about sanctuary and he will give you a map of house Do'Urden with the locations of the helm, the prisoners and Drizzt. He will also tell you about the power of the helm and that you need it to leave the house safely. To enter the house he will give you the password but he can't give you the house insignia, but he know somebody by the name of Jarlaxle who can. So leave this tavern and go to Gollyelius tavern. -----> Menzoberranzan, Gollyelius tavern NPC: None Monsters: None Items: None Talk to Jarlaxle and he will give you the insignia if you bring him a golden necklace from the mantle caverns. So leave him and enter the north/west mantle cavern. -----> Menzoberranzan, Mantle cavern 2 NPC: None Monsters: Night hunters and Drow fighters Items: Mace, Ring of wizardry, throwing knife, admantite chain mail, 2 Handed sword, Pouch with 4 light pellets, Lock picks, Axe of hurling, Wand of fireballs, Chest with Jarlaxle necklace and the Scrolls of Wizards eye, Heal and Cause critical wounds. Jarlaxle's necklace can be found in the middle and then a bit to the west of this area, it is in a room which can only be entered through a walk through wall which you approach from the south. Take the necklace to Jarlaxle and ask him for the insignia, he will then tell you that he doesn't have them but he knows of a patrol of house Do'Urden who are exploring the mantle cavern. Leave the tavern and go to the north/east mantle cavern, now go to the south/west and you will encounter 4 Drow fighters, kill them and give each of your party members one insignia. Now go and enter house Do'Urden. -----> Menzoberranzan, House Do'Urden, Commoners area NPC: None Monsters: Bug bears, Shriekers, Uropyguses and Ochre jellies Items: Scimitar, Short sword, Crossbow, Pouch, 2 Drow admantite armor, Chest with a Longsword and a Ring of wizardry, Gold key with red gem, Pouch with four light pellets, Gold key with green gem and a White circle key. The best way to explore this level is from north to south and back again. In the north/east room is a walk through wall with a button behind it, pushing the button will remove another wall and you will find a chest. In the middle north you will find the gold key with the red gem. The gold key with the green gem can be found in the south/west. In the n/w is another room with a walk through wall, behind it you will find the white circle key. S/w you will find the jail containing the villagers, the guard will tell you that matron Malice herself has the key, so continue west and you will find the door leading to the next level. -----> Menzoberranzan, House Do'Urden, Noble area - 1 NPC: None Monsters: None Items: Drizzt's parchment Go west to the guards, they will tell you that if Rizzen didn't give you the key they will not let you pass. Now locate the green elevator, enter it. -----> Menzoberranzan, House Do'Urden, Noble area - 2 NPC: None Monsters: Myrlochars, Uropyguses, Drow priestesses, Drow fighters and Rizzen Do'Urden Items: Halberd, Drow admantite armor, Black candle, Dagger of throwing, Music box of healing, Bracers of protection, a Chest with the Gold key with black gem and Helm of spiders, Wand of frost, Potion of speed, Potion of extra healing and the Scrolls of Spider cloak armor, Flame arrow, Neutralise poison and Cause serous wounds. In the north/west you will find a room with 2 walk through walls, the north one will lead to to the Music box of healing, the west one will lead you to a room with 2 Drow priestess and a transporter. Enter the transporter and you are transported to a maze in the s/e, work your way west until you come to a room with another walk through wall, go though and you shall see the Helm of spiders, as you approach you it will vanish and you will be attacked by Rizzen Do'Urden, kill him. Now go through the east walk through wall and you will find a chest with a key and the helm, place your gem on the helm and enter the transporter behind it and go back to level 1. -----> Menzoberranzan, House Do'Urden, Noble area - 1 NPC: None Monsters: Drow fighters, Drow priestess, Shriekers and Vierna Do'Urden Items: 5 Piwafwi cloaks, Figurine, Gold circle key, Scimitar icingdeath, scimitar twinkle, Javelin if lightning, Potion of speed, Potion of fire resistance, 2 Keoghtom's ointment, Potion of extra healing, Black candle, Wand of magic missile, Gold key with blue gem, Short sword, Ring of wizardry and the Scrolls of Harm, Cause critical wounds and enchant weapon. Go to the door where you couldn't enter before, use the black gem key to get through. Get the gold circle key in the south/west, use it to get the gold key with blue gem in the north/west, it is hidden behind a walk through wall. With the last key enter the west part of this level, kill Vierna Do'Urden and rest. Now go through the exit. -----> Menzoberranzan, House Do'urden, Sacrifice room NPC: None Monsters: Yochol, Malice Do'Urden, Drow priestesses and Myrlochars Items: None After you interrupted the ceremony don't go for the Yochol, he takes too much time to kill and all that time you are attacked by Malice Do'Urden and her Drow priestess. Instead work your way past the pillars and attack the Drow Priestess and Malice Do'Urden. This may take a few goes but it is possible. After the destruction of Malice Do'Urden and her Drow priestess sit back and enjoy the ending............. - o -
