A Quick Look At ... Darkseed II - Cyberdreams The original Darkseed game was released several years ago over all 3 16-bit formats. Like the first game, the sequel stars writer Mike Dawson as the main character and features art by Giger. Once again the Ancients, the baddies who caused him so much trouble the first time around, are back. In DS2 they are responsible for the murder of one of Mike's ex-girl friends, Rita. Mike is the chief suspect and must not only clear his name but save the world ... again!! The game sounds very stereotyped, with Mike an unsympathetic character, making DS2 not as enjoyable as its predecessor. In the game you will have to repeat actions and return to NPCs for further conversations to push the game along. The Giger graphics sound the best thing about it - or do YOU know different? ------------------------------------------------------------------ Quantum Gate - Media Vision Quantum Gate is one of the first truly interactive movies with more than 2 hours of FMV and pretty high specs required to play it, clear graphics, and an atmospheric music score. The storyline is that of future ecological disaster for Earth and only one person who can save it - you, of course, as a medical student, Drew Griffin. The Quantum Gate Project, which you join, is sending volunteers to a planet containing a mineral which will help Earth survive, travel being through a space-time rift. However, Things Are Not What They Seem and you will shortly uncover a government cover-up. The game is not light-hearted, with threats, plots and counterplots. Controls of the game are minimal in between the video clips - movement, examine things, talk and, unusually, you can access your memories. Dialogue choices are the only real interactively but some events are inescapable, no matter what your choice. Sue - o -
