DRAGON LORE (CD Version) from MINDSCAPE - Part 2 A Solution by Philip Reynolds (c) 1996 @~Continued from Issue 43 Go through the door to the right of the chair and down to the bottom of the stairs, pick up the sword here and return upstairs and into the main hall, we will now deal with the rooms off this hall in an anticlockwise direction. Go through next door (anticlockwise) and go to the back of the room, on the wall is a shield with one sword, put the sword from the bottom of the stairs on the shield and it will move to reveal a niche. Get the piece of seal from the niche then leave the room. Go through next door and enter the room on the left of the passage, get the statuette from the wall above the bed then go back into the passage and down to the room at the end. On the wall facing you is a shelf with two bottles, smash these with the hammer or staff and get the stone eye from the wreckage. Go back into the main hall and enter the next door, you're now in the chapel, go to the bottom of the chapel and through the door there into a bedroom, get the candles from the cabinet to the right of the bed then pick up the Bible from the lectern beside the door and go back into the chapel. Go over to the altar and pick up the sprinkler then put the candles in the candle stick and a compartment will open, you take another piece of seal from the compartment. Use one piece on the other to join them then leave the chapel. Ignore the next door (the one you entered from) and go through the next, in this room is a lectern, click on the lectern to learn how to free trapped souls then leave the room and go through the last door. Facing you is a fireplace, click on the left upright of the grate and this will lower a lamp in the next room, go through the curtains and click on the lowered lamp above the chess table to obtain a key. Use this key on the chest in this room and get the last piece of seal from it. Use this last piece on the others to complete the seal then return to the main hall and go through the next door back onto the stairs. Go down to the bottom of the stairs and use the seal on the door to open it, go through into the room beyond and leave via the left hand door, ignore the other door in this room as there is nothing of interest through there, go up the ladder and pick up the broken key then return down and out of the room. Proceed through the door opposite to find yourself in a large hall with doors leading off, we will work our way round these in a clockwise direction. Enter the next door and continue through this room into the next, click on the skeleton to turn it over then get the stone eye from the skull and leave the room. Go through the next door round into a room with doors at both ends, through the left hand door is a dining room that has a crowbar leaning up against a plant pot in the far corner of the room, as we don't need this we'll ignore this room and go through the door on the right into the kitchen. On a table by the far wall you will find a ladle, pick this up and return to the main hall again. Go through the next door and continue through the door at the end into the next room, click on the cloth on the end bunk to lift it and pick up the stone eye hidden beneath it. Leave via the door and enter the last door on this side of the hall. You are now in a blacksmith's shop, go through the door at the back and pick up the sack of coal from near the gates, return to the forge and use the sack on the forge to fill it. Use your flint on the sulphur to create a flame then use this on the coal to light it, use the bellows at the back of the forge then put the broken key on the fire to heat it. Place the heated key on the anvil then pick up a hammer from the table behind the forge and use this on the key to repair it, dip the ladle in the water trough then use the water on the key to cool it and you now have a re-forged key. Pick up the hacksaw from beside the pot then leave the smithy and unlock the double doors in the main hall with the re-forged key and follow the tunnel down into another large chamber. On the right side are three cells, pick up the skeleton from the middle cell, but don't touch the sword there as this generates monsters that you will have to fight, use the skeleton on the other skeleton in the right hand cell. Now use the statuette, the shaker and the Bible on the skeleton then click on the skeleton and it disappears leaving a key. Pick up the key then go through the door to the right of the cells, turn right and go through the door on the left in this room, there is some parchment on a chest, pick this up then return to the main hall. The parchment is a map of the castle, which will be used in conjunction with a teleport spell that you will acquire later. Now go through the door to the left of the cells into a torture chamber, kill the troll here then go over to the brazier in the far right corner and get the pincers, return to the main hall and go through the door opposite. Continue up the stairs to the bath and jump in, get the crank then jump out again and go back out to the hall. Just around the corner is a dragon's head above an empty pool, use the crank on this to empty the baths, then return to the bath and jump down, continue out through the door on the right and follow the ledge round to a cave where you will meet your family's dragon. Talk to the dragon and it will give you a flask of powder to help you get past the barrier on the stairs, it also asks you to bring it its son and give you some sleeping powder to enable you get the sphere from the entrance hall of the castle. Go back to the hall via the ledge and baths then go across to the opposite corner and down the steps, use the key on the door and you enter a chamber containing a dragon lance and saddle, leave these for now, at the far end is a door that leads into the dragon's cave and provides an easier route than going through the baths. Return to the hall and go around the corner to the last door enter and turn left, in the second rack down is the fourth stone eye, pick it up then use the stone eyes on the skulls to open the four glass cases to reveal a sword, shield, crossbow and key. Get these then travel back to the entrance to the castle where you first came in. Use the sleeping powder on the guardian then get the sphere and return to the stairs. Use the other powder on the barrier then go up and through the door. Go up the stairs on the left of the room and through the door at the top, kill the skeleton in this room then go into the next room and over to the cabinet on the left of the room. Pick up the metal ball from the drawer then go back to the first room on this level. Continue through the door at the end of the room and pick up the metal ball from the plant pot at the foot of the stairs. There are two doors at the end of this room, go through the left door into the nursery, and pick up the metal ball from near the bricks, ignore the red bottle on the cot as this is not needed. Leave by the other door from this room and turn left, the nest is beyond the grill in front of you so use the hacksaw to remove the grill then through the nest out onto a balcony. Turn to face the nest and put the sphere into the nest, use the pincer to break the sphere then pick up the hatched dragon egg. Now travel back down to the dragon's cave and give it the hatched egg. The dragon now offers to take you to a secret chamber that only members of the Wallenrod family may enter and asks for an object that you have touched. Give it any object (you get it back) and you are transported to the chamber. Get the flask of Diakonov's blood from the chest then get the parchment from the wall and add it to your spellbook. Cast the teleport spell and use the map to select your destination, chose level 1 next to the stairs and you're transported there. Go through the nursery into the corridor by the nest then out through the door at the far end, continue out of this room by the other door and go down the red corridor then out through the door at the other end and pick up the metal ball from the bookcase beside the door. You could now go out onto the balcony and have a chat with a stone imp but as you've already hatched the dragon egg and been to the secret chamber it would be a waste of time. Go through the other door out of this room and look at the scroll on the table at the far end of the room ( this is a clue to solving the next puzzle ), then return to the red corridor and go through the central door. Move over to the fireplace on the far side of the room and pick up the twig then move round to the bird perched on the chest. You can't get the key suspended above it from here so ignore it. Use the flint and sulphur to create fire and light the twig, use the burning twig on the bird and four holes will appear in the floor in front of the chest, put the metal ball into the four holes and click on the chest to open it. Pick up the talon on a string then leave by the door near the fire and go up the stairs. Use the key to unlock the door and go through, you will confronted by another door right in front of you, go through this and turn left, look at the central pot and use the talon on the hole in the bottom to get the key from the room below. Proceed up the stairs and open the door with this key then go into the room and talk with Adelpate, he tells you to put the crossbow, shield and sword from the armoury on the floor in front of him, do so and he casts a spell on them, don't bother trying to pick them up again as he says as you can't just now, talk to him again then go through the door behind him up to the next floor of the castle. Enter the room here and climb up the ladder to the top of the tower, on one of the walls you will find a ruby, pick it up then return down to Adelpate's room. Talk to Adelpate again and he gives you a magic map, use this on the map parchment you're carrying to add it to the maps you have then cast the teleport spell and select the area just below the dolmen seat ring of stones to be teleported to the tomb. Place the ruby in the hole in the side of the tomb then go around the other side and look in the tomb, it will open and you will see your father. After listening to him, pick up the armour and shield from the tomb and ready them. Teleport back to Adelpate's room in the castle and talk to him again, give him the blood and he tells you to throw it into the pentacle when he tells you to, he also gives you a chalice containing his power stone amulet and tells you what to do with it. Once Diakonov appears, throw the blood at him when told by Adelpate then when Adelpate says "going so soon" get the amulet from the chalice and use it on Diakonov. Smash the effigy of the dragon that Diakonov drops for his freedom then pick up the weapons, Adelpate also gives you a crystal ball before he dies. Teleport to your dragon's lair beneath the castle then go through into the next room and get the saddle and dragon lance then return to the dragon and use the saddle on him, click on the dragon and you fly to the dolmen seats where the Dragon knights are assembled and ready to vote. Following this solution, you have Fujitomo's Ring and have secured Herg Nach Drakhonen's vote by giving him the jewel you also have either Sylvan's or Alexandre's vote depending on who you gave the vase to and Hellaynea D'Artic's vote after your meeting at the stones, so that is four definite for votes. Haagen von Diakonov and either Sylvan or Alexandre will definitely vote against. As you haven't used much violence to achieve your ends so that the balance bar is on the side of wisdom, Kuru, Klaus von Straupzig and Tanathya Hyrenapth will vote against giving a total of five votes against. Chen Lai, Cheldrya Serpentina, Formar Thain and Arthus of Erwyndyll will all vote in favour so you win the vote by eight to five to become a dragon knight. Diakonov is banished for his treachery and you fly off back to the castle, game completed. - o -
