Spycraft Reviewed by Brian Burke Just a quick comment, I've not got too far in the game as I'm totally hooked on Arena at present and am also on Chapter 4 of Gabriel Knight 2. I bought this game `cos I love Tom Clancy, Gerald Seymour, Craig Thomas and those who write intelligent books of this nature. In addition the graphics and video, under the new Microsoft Direct X drivers, are just amazing. Eye candy wise I'm really, really impressed. If you're a Myst or Zork Nemesis fan I don't think this one's for you. You guys will find it too easy and too linear. For my part I don't play too many adventures although I'm thoroughly enjoying GB2. Spycraft beats GB2 graphically and matches it, for me, in plot development. One interesting feature is the ability to link the game to an Internet Web site. I haven't done that yet as I'm still hanging on for Diamond Cable and trying to keep the phone bills down, but it'll be fun when I am. There's a sort of implication that game enhancements will be available from the site. The game uses tools allegedly used by the CIA, such as image enhancement, and has William Colby, ex-CIA director, as a consultant. The fact that he died recently in the middle of a USA lake adds intrigue to the game. Don't expect he was too thrilled about it though - must be a good book in there somewhere :-). All in all (so far) - very pretty but a niche product for fans of the genre. - o -
