Internet / WWW Section From Sue I'm having great fun since getting onto the Net but I'm not technically minded and some things have me flummoxed. One thing that confused me a lot is FTPing. I gather that an FTP site is a site on a computer system (maybe at a university) that allows some external (anonymous) users on at the sysop's discretion. I found it impossible to get onto FTP sites at first and was getting a message 'The server returned extended information'. I had no idea what this meant but found out later that it means there are too many anonymous users currently logged on. If this happens, try again in a little while. You'll see that, if you're on an FTP site, that it will often say something like you are user 22 out of 60. I am a bit wary of FTP sites still, they're not as user friendly as the Web ... it's more like going back to the old DOS prompt days. But you can find some great software and sites there! - o -
