CAPTIVE - PC, ST and Amiga Differences? A query from Mary Scott-Parker Has anyone played Captive on the PC? All of my Captive playing has been done on the Amiga - but recently someone lent me a PC copy of the game, just to take a look at, so that I could compare the two versions. Carried away by the novelty of saving so easily and quickly, I completed the first two bases, BUTRE and PELPHI and entered MEESTRE. But that was as far as I got. Just inside the base MEESTRE is a door, which on the PC version, absolutely refuses to open. In the Amiga version this door simply needs to be tapped, or to have something thrown at it, for it to open. The PC door does not respond to anything of this nature. Also, and this is rather strange (isn't it?), the configuration of the area just inside the entrance to MEESTRE is one square smaller than on the Amiga. In the Amiga version there are three squares - one immediately inside the entrance, one to the left and one ahead, in front of the door that won't open. This square has a cubby to the right, containing gold, and this is the square that is missing on the PC version, leaving only two squares - side by side - one by each door. Can anyone shed light? Surely the two versions should be identical. Perhaps someone with an ST version [James? ..... Dave?] could have a look at this location for me and tell me if it's like the Amiga one - or the PC - and if it's the latter...how does the door open? I can't imagine it depends on the strength of the droids? Mary S-P 17.6.97 @~If you can help Mary, please give her a ring on 016974 72253 - o -
