Wizardry Nemesis - part 2 A solution from Arnie @~Continued from Issue 49 Once in town head for the cathedral and talk to the priest. Give him the cursed sword and then the book of weapons. He will uncurse the sword which then ends up as an ordinary weapon, go to Talia and exchange the sword hilt for the finely crafted sword. Now head back through the woods to the skull door and enter the sewers. The Sewers Wander about until you come to a four way intersection and walk towards a strange looking door and you walk towards it, it opens. Inside the floor is glowing so click on it and a cube rises up. When you right click on it, it is an illusion so go round the side and click again to get another talisman then retract the cube. On one side of the room is a note from Rian, read it and go towards the door with the coloured buttons. As yet we don't know the combination so leave the room the way you entered and explore. If you see snakes dangling down from the roof shoot them from a distance with the arrows but remember to retrieve the undamaged ones. Eventually you will find buttons on the wall. In one room different coloured smoke is drifting, this is the clue to the colour combination on the door. The things you find down here are a Ruby wand, some cure poison potions, chain leggings and the fire spell. Head for the colour coded door and enter the right colours to exit at the Gondola station. The gondola station For now leave the gondola and enter the doorway to Jaren's keep. You find a butterfly on the floor which when replaced in the collection gives you a bee key. Some items to collect are heal and cure poison potions, arrows and a book called PROGENY'S END. If you stand in front of the dragon skeleton you will get a little surprise but it will come in useful at the end of the game. Use the bee key on the bee symbol and enter the door. Down here you can get the crossbow pistol, an Amethyst globe and a restore energy potion. Take note of the sink full of water because you will need to use it later. When you find Jaren in the telescope room he tells you his story and drops a key and a broken tablet. Pick them up and return to the start where the key unlocks the desk. Inside you find a runic tablet which you will decode in the endgame, also a box which yields the Icestorm/cure poison spell. Not much else to do here now so return to the gondola and blow the horn to transport to Venomire marsh. Venomire marsh Pick up the arrows and fight two plants until you get two tentacles (poisoned). Rush back to Jaren's keep and dump them in the sink of water to neutralise them. Use one on the other to make a rope. Hint: don't bother wasting spells or cure poison potions while carrying the poisoned tentacles. Now return on the gondola to Venomire marsh and enter the tower using the gold key you found in the well. Burned Bones room Use the broken tablet on the doorway and click on the symbols in the following order: left, right, bottom, top to open the door. Inside there is chain mail, a jade wand, a helmet and an energy potion. Click on the painting and get a ghost story then get the curved sword and the book. This is a pretty nifty sword. Explore until you come to a different looking doorway, SAVE GAME here. On the other side is the minotaur, probably the only one left that Sue did not slaughter in Shadow of Yserbius. It is very very tough to kill, in fact the way I did it was hit it a few times then run out of the door and do a quick heal and return. It did not regenerate its points so a few "he-who-fights-and-runs-away-lived- to-fight-another-day" did the trick. Use the rope on the left hand rail to descend into the pit. You can get the minotaur's whip but it is pretty useless. The pit leads to the fire tunnels and eventually the mushroom tunnels. Not much here except monsters so map it out and run fast to get to the fork where one door is locked and the other leads to the Desolate Castle. The Desolate Castle The entry door is broken so pick up a rock and jam it in the top to keep it open and enter the room. Inside you find the sandstorm/resist magic spell. Read the books and when the net traps you just go to combat and cut it with your sword. Pick up the rope and pull the middle chain. Pick up one piece of wood. Somewhere in the room is some banded armour. Now walk towards the stairs. I suggest saving the game here as a stupid kamikaze dodo type thing jumps down the stairs at you. Here I just stood back and shot it full of arrows. Up the stairs you collapsed the walkway when you pulled the chain so use the rope on the pulley and swing across the gap. Climb the ladder and look at the table with the book and candle but don't touch. I was lucky and had saved the game here; on the other side of the room is a table with a rusty pair of scissors so use them to perform a vasectomy on the candle. This stops it burning the book when the table collapses, the book is the answer to the runic code on the tablet in Jaren's desk. @~Arnie later sent me an email about this part of the solution. He @~had been helping someone with this section and wanted to make @~one bit clear. I'll let him tell you. In the Desolate Castle bit I must have been lucky and saved my game before getting the book off the rickety table as I soon realised that the candle burned part of the book and as I wrote circumcised the candle with the scissors to prevent this. They [the people he was helping] did not and at the end could not decipher the runes to get the word for the ending part. How they got out of it, if they did, I couldn't say so maybe I could emphasise that part before it is too late. @~Okay, back to the plot. Go up one more level to find Zalena who does not quite kill you. Get the cloak and silver wand and the windstorm spell then meet her down the stairs. After another story she will give you another talisman and a dragon scale. Head back to the locked door at the fork in the mushroom tunnel by using the piece of wood to jam the door open and use the dragon scale on the door. On the other side is a huge chasm and a voice telling you to cast yourself upon the wind. So cast the windstorm spell and you will be transported to Ystalin's lair. @~To be continued next issue - o -
