Swords of Xeen Help and Info supplied by e-mails from Stefan Herber stefanher@aol.com Contrary to what many think I have only found one bug - the transport mirror in Sandtown vanishes after the town has been liberated, although clicking on the spot where it should be allows normal use. The robots in the space station are all killable but one has to be level 34+ to take them on. Boring as it may seem the easiest way to achieve this is to fill up at the fountain mentioned in issue 49 and then trip off the alarm in level 2 of the ship repeatedly. Killing the robots that appear quickly increases your experience and allows training at Sandtown. I can mention a few that are considered bugs but are not. I thought they were first time round but found otherwise. Both relate to Sandtown: a) Unable to get the population to return: One has to find all the life gems first - there are a total of 30. Some are hidden in chests but the last is hidden behind a secret wall in the east part of the 1st level of the dungeon. b) Cannot get the hammer for the swordsmith: this only appears after the population is restored and taxes are first gathered in the tax room. I confess I had no problems opening the guild in Impery - one has to clear the sewers completely ( and there are a number of secret walls) but as the map of each level is a perfect square these are easy to find. I found magic plays a relatively small part in the game - unless your characters are above a certain level the spells bounce off the monsters and at that stage cut and thrust works well enough. The biggest problem is the minotaur who must be avoided at all costs (not difficult) until level 25+. I found the best way to tackle this was to explore all other areas and kill as many weaker monsters as possible. Eventually armadillos, giants etc. become easy prey. In this respect the game differs from the earlier in the trilogy. It reminded me far more of the Wizardry games where certain areas are "no go" for a while. I am happy to answer any queries about it or the other Might & Magic trilogy if anyone wants. I also have a vast collection of walkthrus, either personally drawn up or taken from mags/the Net and will try and help anyone if they e-mail me. Not Daggerfall - I became so frustrated with the bugs and that incomprehensible automapping that I have (hopefully temporarily) shelved that. - o -
