This game has a more intimate atmosphere than the first two Gabriel Knight stories. The restricted locale and set group of suspects impart a bit of an Agatha Christie feel to the game, somewhat like Murder on the Orient Express or Death on the Nile. Yet it is probably one of the most occult stories in the Gabriel Knight series, delving into esoteric secrets which have only recently come to light, and which are sure to have an impact on our future. The GK3 story is also inherently puzzle-driven and spatial. It will have more of a 'mystery play' feel, due to the game's 3D elements. The suspects and other characters move around the environment independently of Gabriel and Grace, giving you the feeling of inhabiting a living virtual world. You can move the camera freely during both gameplay and story scenes. And although there will be a main path through the story, many things will be optional, and the level of understanding you walk away with will depend on how well you play. Once again, you will have the opportunity to play both Gabe and Grace. Gabriel's game play will be more like his role in GK1 & 2 while Grace will be spending much of her time utilizing SIDNEY, the Schattenjagger Information Database. It's a cool piece of software that not only contains a database of esoteric and occult information, but also performs analysis on almost any thing that's scanned in. SIDNEY plays an important role in finding the supposed treasure and is vital to figuring out exactly what's going on in the valley. So get your puzzle-solving skills ready!
