The Pyramid - Author: Roland Goulsbra SynTax disk PD 224 (PC), 891 (Amiga), 223 (ST) Solution by Bev Truter on PC Bear in mind this game is won by doing the right things, rather than by collecting many items. Starting off in Rameses Square with only a 100 dollar bill for company and no luggage, go W to the Bazaar where you see a carved box. Open box, you see a corkscrew, get corkscrew and an old man appears and tells you the price. Haggle and he gives you the corkscrew after hearing your heart-rending tale of woe. E-N-N-W to the Crafts Room in the Egyptian National Museum. X stand, get lamp and coin, X them. E, examine counter (you see a closed window), open window, look, get matches. Go E to the Shrine Room. X the reredos and remember the scene it depicts, which is the basic story behind the game - the Pharao(h) must be resurrected. X case (you see a slot), insert coin, and the lid opens to reveal an ancient papyrus scroll. Get scroll, X scroll, read scroll - luckily you are able to read hieroglyphs. W-S-S-E to the Taxi Stand. Whistle, and a taxi picks you up and deposits you at the Pyramid. Give bill to driver, and he returns your change - a motley collection of coins and buttons - and pushes you out the taxi. N to the Souvenir shop where you see a clerk and some antiques. Talk to the clerk and he shows you a small amulet. Buy amulet, and the clerk is only too happy to take your buttons and coins as payment, and gives you a 100 dollar bill as change, and the amulet. X amulet - it's a sacred amulet used in ancient ritual- and wear the amulet. E-N-N-N-N to the Pharao's Burial Chamber. N, read the sign about the death trap, which explains that only the Pharao could pass the trap without being killed. N to the Treasure Chamber, which is empty now. S-S-S-S-S-S-W to outside the Souvenir shop. Whistle, and a taxi returns you to the Taxi stand, the driver refusing your money. W-N-N-N to the Exhibition Hall. X sarcophagus, open sarcophagus, get mummy and put it in the sarcophagus. Enter sarcophagus. The papyrus scroll starts to glow and you are transported back to the Pharao's Burial Chamber in the Pyramid about 2000 years ago. Light lamp, get mummy and go N-N to the Treasure Chamber. Get the vial and the urn, but leave the chest for later. S-S, put mummy in sarcophagus. Go W to the Guard Room and X the remains there to find some bronze keys on a keyring. Get keys, E-S-S-S-S to South of the Pyramid. X the urn - it contains the Pharao's innards - open urn. X vial - it contains an oily embalming fluid. Open vial (with corkscrew). E-E, and you are dragged into the Slave Quarters and imprisoned. Unlock door with keys, and you cunningly escape to East of the jail. E-E-N-N to the ocean's edge, where you discover an elderly sailor tossing stones into the sea. Examine the sailor and ask him about the Pharao. On hearing the Pharao's name he becomes quite chatty, and presents you with a flag, which he says he would like to trade for something nice. You can trade anything for the flag, so trade corkscrew, get flag and examine it - it's heavily embroidered and might have once waved from the Pharao's barque. By now your lamp has probably flickered out completely, so fill lamp (with oil) and return to the Pyramid by going S-S-W-W-S to an Oasis, then NW-SW-NE-N to the Pyramid entrance. Light lamp and go N-N-N to the Burial Chamber. Pour oil in urn, spill urn (on mummy), and the Pharao wakes up. Examine the Pharao and talk to him - he offers you his treasure chest as a reward for your services, and will accompany you wherever you go in the Pyramid. Drop all, get vial, lamp, matches and flag, and go N-N to the Treasure Chamber where you see the Pharao's chest. Open chest, look, and you find a collection of the Pharao's valuables in the chest. Get jewels, S-S-E to the Barque Room. By now the lamp will be flickering wildly, so fill the lamp with oil, go Up to the Royal Barque, and hoist flag. You are transported back to your own time. D-W-S-S-S-S to outside the Pyramid. Whistle, and the taxi arrives to take you back to the Taxi stand. W-S to the bus stop and the ticket vending machine. Examine the machine, turn crank, open machine, look. You see a bus ticket, so get ticket and a bus pulls up. Show ticket, and you are pushed inside the bus where you see plenty of free seats. Sit. After twenty minutes you arrive at the Airport. At the Airport you can see the meaning of liff! Get liff and examine liff - it's a fake! You have found Life instead! - o -
