Diablo - general hints Beginners should start as the warrior. They can use heavier, stronger weapons and can inflict more damage on monsters in the dungeon. If you're playing in single-player mode, save your game often. There's nothing more frustrating than picking up a lot of cool items, then getting killed. You lose everything unless you save. Vitality increases a character's hit points. The higher your hit points, the more damage you can do. Learn as many spells as you can. This serves two purposes: It frees up space in your inventory -- you don't have to carry scrolls around -- and if you keep learning the same spell, its level will increase, which, in turn, makes the spell more powerful. When playing with a buddy, make sure you have Resurrect scrolls handy. If your companion dies in battle, you can bring him or her back. Your pal will lose a percentage of gold, but will still have all his or her possessions. Watch your back when playing on Battle.net or one of the other online services that support Diablo. Some people will say they're friendly and want to help you out, but they could have a hidden agenda -- they might corner you in the dungeon, kill off your character, and make off with your loot. Try to get a line of communication going before trusting anyone; would-be thieves usually don't have the patience to talk at great length. - o -
