MYST -- The Solution -- Part III Myst was sent grovelling to the floor by Andrew Wielochowski @~Continued from last issue "The Surrealistic Adventure That Will Become Your World" note:- The directions used may seem strange. So that'll you'll understand the directions I have used, there should be a GIF with SynTax. This .GIF shows you the above view of the Channelwood forest floor. Let's get even >>>> Channelwood <<<< Go underground using the lift - tree and link. Placing my hand on the page I experienced the now only too familiar linking effect. My body broke up into millions of little particles and went out on a little stroll. Then almost instantly I felt all my little particles being drawn together and there I was ... in the middle of a forest. I was standing on plank. This was because the forest floor was not as one might expect, dry ground, but gently lapping water and the plank I was standing on was a small part of a endless pathway through the trees and above the water. I could see turning like a great turbine the flaps of a windmill. I made my way along the planks to it and climbed up the rocky hill. I entered the small windmill to discover nothing much of interest, except at the bottom of a water butt was a little tap. I turned the tap. The tap in turn was linked to a strong black pipe which led the way back to the water-logged forest. Leaving the windmill I made my way down to the forest. The black pipe stopped and wood-piping started. I followed the piping and noticed at junctions there was a small round box-like device. Mounted on the device was a piece of wood you could turn. This must be the valve to control the water flow. I decided to solve the problem more ... well carefully. So I returned to the base of the rocky hill to the pyramid and turned to face the forest with that maze of planks and pipes. I walked to the first junction. I moved the small block of wood on the round box (valve) to face North. And continued North. Reaching the next junction I turned the valve North again and walked onto the next junction. This time shifting the valve to North-East I continued and then at the next junction moved the sliding valve East and turned East towards the small box like room. I opened the door which creaked in complaint. Closing the door I pulled the little lever on the side and the box jolted and then chugged upwards into the trees. The box jolted to a halt and I stepped out. NOTE :-- Explore this area. You will eventually find yet another lift with a gate next to it. Open this gate and go down the spiral walkway. The gate swung open and I made my way down the spiral walkway to the forest floor. I stopped at the first junction and turned the little valve so it directed the water towards the spiral walkway. Then I turned heel and walked back up the spiral walkway. Opening the lift door, which I found next to the spiral walkway, I entered and with the door closed behind me pulled the lever and the lift jolted and jerked me up to the next story of platforms in the trees. NOTE:- Look around and explore up here. In Sirrus' room you'll find the second half of the note (the other was in the Stoneship age). You'll also find a pink page and a blue page. ALSO In a room belonging to Achenar you'll find a little machine with a grid over it. Use the buttons on it to display different messages. The only important message is of Sirrus telling Achenar to only take one page. Listen to this message carefully because later on it is a BIG clue. I clambered back into the wooden lift, clutching my chosen page. The door closed and I pulled down the lever. It jolted to a halt. Once out I used the spiral walkway to get down to forest level. Going to the next junction I set the valve to let the water flow Northwards and went North to the next junction. At the next junction I set the water to flow North again. Now I set the water flow to go to a round box with a lever sticking out of it. Pulling the lever down a bridge rose from the water and connected the two platforms. Next I crossed the bridge and ignoring the elevator I followed the pipe until it came to a stop before a gap between two bridges. At the end of the pipe was a small cranking handle. Turning the handle the pipe extended and connected with the pipe on the other side. Next I crossed back over bridge and directed the water to flow through the pipes I had just extended. Then crossing back over the bridge I entered the lift and sent it upwards. It jolted to a halt in a small wooden room. In the centre of the room was the Myst linking book. I linked.
