The Adventurer by Jesslyn Truter I am the Adventurer, brave and so bold, Searching for treasures (most of them gold). I will never be happy, no I never will rest, Till in my possession, every last treasure chest. I'll rescue the princess, the virtuous maid, Provided the reward includes precious jade. In fact, there's no service I won't consider, My loyalties lie with the highest bidder. These nostrils of mine are powerful enough, To sniff out the smallest of diamonds in the roughest of rough. With my muscles gleaming and my nostrils aquiver, I cut a most impressive figure. Yes it's true, I am handsome, there's no denying, That my magnificent physique has every lass sighing. But a greater love to my heart has laid claim, A whopping great ruby with a hue of flame. My quest for riches leads me from land to land, Dagger between teeth and compass in hand. No dragon's lair is too inaccessible, No Siren's song too loud in decibel. Perils? They're part and parcel of an adventurer's life, Ducking the fireballs and dodging the knife. I'm rather good at my job, it's a fact, It's always the enemy and not me that ends up hacked. So if in your travels you should see me some day, Approach me, I'm quite friendly in my own special way. Say hello, smile widely, open up, let me see, The golden glint on your tooth that is beckoning me. - o -
