Heroes Of Might & Magic II H I N T S from the Net Play the Tutorial game; it offers an unbeatable explanation of the ins and outs of this richly textured program. Develop your land. Your computer opponents will expand their territories relentlessly, so don't let any of your resources lie fallow. Build new structures on each turn, and move on when a castle is fully developed. Attack the big guys first. If you go to battle against an opponent that has one large, particularly tough unit, throw all your forces against that cadre and ignore the other enemies for the time being. Learn as a knight. Knights are effective fighters, and their castles are easy to construct and beef up. The Wizards' power may be seductive, but their castles are complex. Barbarians' slap-dash castles are no-brainers to build, but poor defensive skills make them a bad choice for long campaigns. Master the Impossible. The game's Impossible level is a baptism by fire that will challenge even the best players. Your opponents start out with almost overwhelming resources, are rewarded at twice the rate you are, and won't attack unless you're hopelessly outnumbered. You start out with zilch -- and things go downhill quickly from there. Use this level only when you want a very quick game or want to really test your skills. - o -
