Simon the Sorcerer II Reviewed by Julian Gregory Having enjoyed Simon I so much I was delighted to find a copy of Simon II on sale at œ9.99, especially as the original price was about œ45. Savings like that certainly appeal to me. The format and layout of Simon II is very similar to the first game. The game starts with you entering a magic wardrobe and being transported to another world. During the introduction you are told to find some mucusade which will power the wardrobe and enable you to return home. Needless to say that is rather easier said than done. The game has the standard split screen, with a display area and an inventory area which also provides access to the various verbs required. To play the game all you need to do is point to one of the verbs and perhaps select an object to use with that verb. As with the previous game the quality of the cartoon graphics is very good, although some of the solutions to the problems appear to be rather obscure, sometimes even with hindsight. A new feature to this game, as compared to the first one, is that the screen now scrolls. This can be difficult to learn, although to be fair it is mentioned in the booklet which comes with the game. Overall the comments I made about Simon I still apply here. I thoroughly enjoyed playing Simon II and can easily recommend it, particularly at the price!! Score 70% - o -
