Multi Dimensional Thief (TGC version on SynTax Disk 724) Reviewed by Graham Raven I liked the look of this game! I liked the way the controls worked and I enjoyed the wry comments (up to a point!) which arose in response to my actions and instructions. Alas, in four half hour sessions I managed to score a total of zero points! On my very last attempt I was so completely frustrated that I told the program to go and procreate with itself and it insisted that I had to promise not to swear again before it would let me continue playing. Needless to say, I shut the machine down and there ended all my future attempts with MDThief. The world seems to be divided into two groups of people I believe. Those who like frustrating Adventure games and who'll spend hour after hour trying to work out exactly just how to pick up a pencil or open a door (in the vain hope that there's something on the other side!), and those who don't! I can only assume that the former group are a rare breed of enthusiasts who have spent years in deep contemplation mastering the riddles of Zen masters and the meaning of life, or if they fancy a real challenge, will work their way through a game such as MDThief. Me? My brain hurts! I haven't the faintest idea how to make even the smallest head way with this game! I'm pretty certain that any number of the readers will delight in this game, but I for one am off to bang my head against a wall. Rating: U bend. PS Okay I had to have just one last go, and after an hour I scored the amazing total of six points. Embarrassingly poor according to the computer. Okay, I've actually scored a point or two, I can live happily ever after. The game is good, I have enjoyed it, but it's not my kind of game. Now Red Dragon, now there's a game! - o -
